I was fairly certain of this all along; Nintendo said at the conference that it would require a software update, but never suggested this update wouldn't be available upon purchase, in fact implying just the opposite. Only one blog out there reported that a rep told them it might not actually be available at launch, and the rest of the web lit up with the rumor. Seriously, trace the source links of every blog talking about a delay and you'll see the same origin. Typical for gaming blogs, unfortunately.

I think the internet browser is powerful enough for youtube. During the 3DS preview, Regi showed a video of the 3DS's estore where you can see 3D gameplay videos before you buy a game.

Nintendo has their own proprietary video streaming software that the Nintendo channel and stuff like BBC iplayer(and I assume Netflix) use on the Wii. It's likely they're using a 3DS version of it. Youtube is not exactly..... the best(still better than Gametrailers!).
