Ok, Nintendo's support forum sucks (my thread died out without getting anywhere), gonna bring the issue here to see if we can figure something out. I'm limited on money, so I gotta be certain if this IS the battery or not.
The battery drains very fast, a full charge only lasts about one hour before the system goes out. Now here's the weird part...I've only noticed this with Monster Hunter Stories, even 4U/Generations doesn't cause this. Even weirder than this, is that when I turn the system back on after the battery "dies" it gives me around 75% battery life and everything goes back to normal.
Is this really being caused by Stories? Or is there something else that's causing this, and Stories is just making it worse? I don't have another battery to see if it is my battery.
Oh yeah I almost forgot, this is a launch New 3DS XL system.

I once had a similar problem with my battery - solved it by taking it out and cleaning the connectors. After inserting it again, I never ever had the problem again.
Very weird. Normally I would chalk this up to a battery that's past its prime. Have you tested the battery life with other games besides those mentioned?
I'd say step one would be to re-seat the battery like what has been recommended above.

I keep forgetting to actually try that, I get distracted easily. lol
But yeah it seems to only happen with Stories. I play other games from 4U to Puzzle and Dragons and even the 3D Zelda remakes.

Yeah I just checked on the battery, it seemed ok to me. I took it out and found nothing wrong...guess I'll try playing stories again and see what happens.
EDIT: Welp, battery still "died" in about an hour (didn't even get a chance to save, go figure...). Turned it back on and only one bar is missing...sighs I feel like this is the game, but apparently I'm one of the few with this issue. :/
Not a issue for mii even after playing a lot, but yee, maybe taking out the battery and putting it back in might be a good start, if not, you might need to get a new one.....THAT OR TO SWITCH IT UP!
Other than an inconclusive topic on GF and what I assume is your post on Nintendo's support forums, I haven't found anything on this. The only thing I can conclude at this point (barring battery conservation through commonly known methods) is that Monster Hunter Stories is an energy eater.
...Though that playtime still beats what I had to put up with when playing Bravely Default before replacing my battery.

I feel like the game is causing the system to think that the battery is dying, when it really isn't...Once I lose one bar on a full charge when playing Stories, the system goes out. And like I said, once I reboot the thing, I have 3 bars left... :/

Welp, turns out it's NOW happening to my other games. Decided to play Pokemon Moon for a bit, and the battery is acting up. Guess I'm gonna order a new battery from Nintendo...(and a new cover, since my current one is broken anyways....freakin' screws, lol)
EDIT: Oddly enough, the battery died out even faster with Moon. lol
I've tried that already, like I said it's happening with other games now, so the battery is just going bad. It just wasn't noticeable outside of Stories until now.

what a shame - it happened to all of my games as well but in my case the problem was solved buy taking the battery out and in again. Do you have the means to try another battery from friend?
Yep, I'd say your best bet would be to get a new battery from Ninty.
The original on my OG 3DS lasted about five years. I didn't notice it right away since I went through a long period of playing mostly VC games as well as a period of time when I just didn't pick up my 3DS.

Yeah hopefully the new battery should fix things...If it somehow the system itself, then I could always just get the New 2DS XL instead of doing a repair.

Alright...replaced the old battery with the new one (it came in today along with a new battery cover), it's missing a bar though so I'm gonna recharge it. Later tonight I'll take MH stories for a test run and see how long it lasts, if it still dies out in less than an hour then it's the system. (and then it looks like the New 2DS XL will be my next target to buy, then. >_>)
EDIT: Well, I have been playing Stories for more than 30 minutes now, light hasn't gone red yet. So far so good.
Is the battery dying or is the system turning off? I had an issue like this where the battery was simply loose and all I had to do is take it out and put it back in properly, and make sure it was securely in place.
