Topic: 3DS XL Zelda Gold/Black edition paint job issue(s) ?

Recently bought a 3DS XL Zelda Gold/Black edition. All working fine, however I've noticed an anomaly in the gold paint finish on the top exterior panel of the 3DS XL. It depends on what angle you look at, but there is faintly two spots visible in the gold shiny layer, what perhaps can be best described as shadow stains.

It's difficult to describe and I've tried capturing it on camera, but to no avail.
Anyone else with a 3DSXL zelda have similar anomalies (as said, you need to look at it from different angles)?

I'm not seeing anything on mine that looks shaded. Could you perhaps take your picture and circle the exact spots on the photo itself?

I'm being very picky, its only noticible using bright light and at angles.
Tried capturing it on photo, but I cant capture it.

Its no major issue though, I'm just wondering if anyone else has this.

I know what you mean, my gold XL also has the same issue, but I've got 4 of them spots on mine, there all towards each corner of the top case and are all an equal distance apart, if you joined them you would have a rectangle shape if that makes sense? I think its either were something is screwed into the back of that top panel from inside the 3ds itself or were the case is pressed up against something on the other side of it-again inside of the 3ds itself.

its slightly annoying but like you say its no major issue and can only been seen in certain lights/angles

Same here, I didn't mention it, but mine are also perfectly aligned. It's as if some bolts or screws in the back pressured the plastic surface a bit which causes the spots on the metallic gold paint job.

I don't think I have encountered a street pass relay station, although the other day I received like 10 visitors and all of a neighboring country, but I could have simple bases some bus with foreigners

Hey guys, I know i am a few months late, but I just managed to get a 3ds xl myself yesterday, and my 3ds xl zelda edition also has 3 of those spots, exactly how you described them. If you are still reading and still own the 3ds xl zelda edition, did your "spots" get worse? thx

Nope, they did not. It's good the know this seems like a normal manufacturing process/effect and nothing out of the ordinary to worry about.
