I fully agree. While the review is bad, and the sh**posts are somewhat funny, we are getting nothing across other than looking unhinged. But other than telling people to please not spam sh**posts there is nothing much we can do other than adding actual criticism and hoping the sh**posts dry out soon.
Let's hope no idiot takes this further than ***** posting a bit here, a bad review doesn't excuse a person being harassed or worse. I know people are upset, but please only criticize the review, and not ruin the life of the reviewer.
That being said. This review is genuinely bad. I know that reviewers do not have the time to fully experience a 200h game and acknowledge that is a good start, but that makes it even more insulting that knowing that this review treats those few hours like it is all the game has to offer. Naturally there are valid pieces of criticism here such as the small texts and menus, but the rest of the critique fails to actually examine any aspect of the game.
There are plenty of constructive comments on the positive aspects of the game that were misrepresented or missed by the review so I won't restate all that.
The worst aspect of this is that this review is one of the first things to come up when you search for the game. And for an indie game, the few reviews it gets from bigger sources are very important.
For the reviewer to acknowledge that they have not experienced the full game and yet to still go on to go against the popular sentiment shown on this site and steam by user reviews is inexcusable. It makes the entire review seem inauthentic. Only adding the bit about not having fully experienced the game not because that factor was actually considered, but because you had it on a list of things to say somewhere. If you didn't care about the game state that clearly and maybe rethink if you should be reviewing the game.
If you're able to acknowledge that you haven't really experienced the game then maybe do not assume that the game has nothing else to present to you, and instead look at what other people had to say about the game who actually experienced it all. By not even considering that, the reviewer has very much brought this situation onto themselves. (Like seriously, what did you think was gonna happen when you saw a 9/10 game on steam; a 9.6/10 game on this site at the time of writing; a game with a big fanbase; and gave it a 4/10... Did you not even once look at the user reviews of the game you were reviewing, especially knowing you didn't play all of it?)
I understand that the game may have not been to the reviewers taste, it may not be a game for everyone and that they maybe just got paid to play the game for X hours and then to write a review. But no review would have been better than a review this misleading on an indie game where the review will have an impact.
tldr: The review is horrible. But please do not be a complete idiot and harass the reviewer over it.
