@Schizor88 Yea it's definitely stronger than XB360 and PS3 but not as powerful as PS4 and XB1. Sometimes with some games it can approach a base PS4 but that's on the best of days with the best developers and best of circumstances. I hope the next Switch can be on par with a base PS4 thinking realistically. Even just having a handheld PS4 would be amazing. Steam Deck is great but Nintendo isn't going to pull out those stops...then again Nintendo always does the unexpected so who knows. Maybe they will make a premium "Pro" Switch and a basic model similar to how Microsoft has positioned the Xbox Series S and X models. I'd be down with that.
@Piyo I'm hoping for a PS4 as minimum. Nintendo is like 3 or 4 generations behind and as a huge fan it has really been bumming me out. I've always been a gameplay over graphics kind of person but the gameplay and frame rates and bad graphics and cut content are too much on Switch for me in 2022. In 2017 when Switch was fresh and for the last few years it's been fine but it's time for Nintendo to drop a new Switch. Even in 2017 the Switch was outdated tech as per usual for Nintendo's design philosophy but if we could even get up to 2020 standards that would be cool.
The user score is surprisingly low. I expected it to be a 9. Personally for a Switch port and excellent game with a wonderful world to get lost in I give it a 10. If the other version did not exist and I just judge the performance and game itself then it is a 10. I am LOVING it on Switch.
I have an external hard drive full of individual games I’ve been saving since 2017 with nearly every new game I always check if the button works immediately on the splash screen. I’ve thought maybe someday I’d make a review or use them for a video but I haven’t yet. I like looking back at the photos with the file info showing the date as well a the resolution and more. It’s fun to see pictures from when I first played Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey because they were game that had me so incredibly hyped and had a big emotional & happy impact on my life. I can remember where I was and what I was thinking with those special games. I also screenshot and screen record couch co-op multiplayer with my brothers and friends as well as online multiplayer as it’s a special occasion and I remember those days as well as who won. So far I’ve recorded nearly all of Neon White and the 30 second time limit for Switch video capture has pushed me to get my speed runs in 30 seconds or less although the game does a good job at making you want to speed run naturally. I think I will use the Neon White screenshots for a thumbnail and the videos for either review, video summary, or talk about the game when I’ve had more time to sit with it and soak in the community a bit more. Neon White is easily my game of the year and it was totally unexpected despite seeing the videos pre launch. Once you play it everything clicks immediately and it’s a blast; I even like the cliche cringe story! The developer did an interview and said they essentially made the characters stereotypical anime archetypes to evoke an Adult Swim/Toonami cartoon feel from the Y2K aesthetic.
I wish this would get a port or remaster to Switch or an all new entry. They nailed the art direction and iconography of this game. I remember a good soundtrack and beautiful pseudo 3D graphics with Fire Emblem, FF Tactics, Advance Wars, etc type strategy gameplay in a streamlined form. They made Pokémon blend so seamlessly into this format.
Hot Take - Wii had the most lifeless, box art compared to other generations & consoles. That plain minimalistic look that stemmed from the original plain white Wii console & box design did not make for an interesting theme. I think a large Wii collection has nothing on a moderate sized Gamecube collection when you have them on the shelf and in your hands. Gamecube had some of the best box art as did the Gameboy Advance. I think the GCN & GBA era was the best era of Nintendo box art. Also I think the GCN, PS2, and OG Xbox had the best box art; but some of it was for sure ugly. It could all be nostalgia but so many Gameboy Advance covers are etched into my memory. I've always had a habit of saving high res images of box art for my favorite games through time that I look back at and it evokes many memories of where I was, who I was with, and how I felt just gazing on it. I know this likely sounds a bit strange but box art rules.
Europe & Japan win big here. The US art isn't awful but by comparison to EU and to the previous game's box art it's not even a competition. Super Mario Strikers is my favorite game in the series, it was like the NBA Street (Basketball), equivalent to soccer/football with Mario Party. I still think that original Gamecube game was fantastic and to be honest I didn't even know they made any games after that. I'm glad Battle League is heading to Switch. Just playing the tutorials on the First Kick network test/demo I can tell it has quite a bit of nuance and challenge to master it's gameplay.
Sometimes I wish I could go back to the past. I would buy a load of these and put them in hard plastic cases. Also I wouldn't have sold my entire Pokemon card collection from Gen 1 through the early generations for $20 at a Garage sale. I could have been riccchhhh!
Nintendo should buy this game and release it as a spin off Metroid title on the Switch...it won't happen though. They have TOO MUCH riding on the success of Metroid Prime 4. They want to keep the image of Prime 4 and Metroid perfect. That's why they are taking so long with Metroid Prime 4 and started over production. They know this is almost a make or break title for the Metroid Series and expectations are sky high. I can't wait for Metroid Prime 4. This looks like a cool fan project but as polished as it is it's lacking that intangible Nintendo spirit.
I would love one. I remember when preorders first went live and also when they sold out...very quickly. It's an expensive handheld but looks very quality. While I'd love to get one I think I'll stick with a cheaper smaller horizontal orientation portable emu like the original GBA shape or GBA micro. Wulff Den has some great videos on portables. Aside from that my Switch and Switch Lite keep me plenty busy. I have over 250 games.
Looks pretty good. I'll be downloading ASAP. I imagine it will run great with lots of dynamic resolution and dips but good frame pacing and 30FPS. It looks smooth but will have to jump in to play it myself. I'm still loving Rogue Company which I feel is a simple and underrated shooter on Switch.
I think they set a deadline and dropped the game at the worst time alongside the previous mentioned monolithic titles from 2K. There's an outstanding number of open world and triple A games on Switch outside of Breath of the Wild a list that is too numerous to think of. Aside from BOTW, obviously the games I mentioned earlier, Skyrim, Borderlands series, Bioshock series, XCOM, The Witcher 3, The Asssassin's Creed series, NBA 2K series, Wolfenstein games, DOOM, Lego City Undercover (I know this was a Wii U Title first but it was enhanced and updated on Switch), damn near every Resident Evil game from 1-6 along with the Revelations 1 & 2 titles, Crysis Remastered. The fact Crysis Remastered is running on Switch to the degree it is alone should be evidence that Switch can play The Outer Worlds in a way that performs and looks better. I think the devs had a deadline to make and were rushed. With the reception now I know they have mentioned this update quite a while back but due to the timing when they dropped the game I think they are really working on a proper patch for the game and want to drop it at a time to use the update as a marketing tool to get some buzz around the game again. Going up against the 2K games and having the technical and performance issues it has made it go under the radar to many and for those who bought it at launch, including myself, we are just waiting to play this game at a more proper level or have abandoned ship. A proper patch could be used to market this game again but Private Division seems radio silent since the original tweet about the patch. People have been tweeting at them on almost every post asking about the update and they have not responded to anyone or given any update. It would be nice to have an ETA for the patch or for them to at least say because of COVID the situation is uncertain and they are continuing to work on it but are unsure of the patch update. Hopefully they patch it sooner than later.
CD Projekt Red has set the standard for porting with the Witcher 3 Complete with game playable out of the box with no download required along with DLC and expansions and a boxed complete edition at UNDER retail MSRP of $59.99. It's easy to find the game for $50 like I did recently on Amazon brand new. It was the PEGI version but the same as the US ESRB version and it was brand new in the box in the cellophane with all the extras. 2K has done a fantastic job porting with Borderlands games, BioShock games, XCOM. Panic Button has ported over some great games like DOOM which looks and runs great imo. Bethesdha also did a stellar job with porting over and improving Skyrim to the Switch. What this says to me is that Developers CAN do proper ports of games given the resources to do so but many developers choose to put their resources in other places for a quicker and likely higher return on investment for stakeholders especially if they are a public traded company. On the other hand having that diverse portfolio for developers can also be a good thing for any stockholder and is good for gamers to have more options. I'm enjoying seeing the progression of what relatively smaller but popular and talented developers like Hi-Rez / Evil Mojo have been able to accomplish on Switch with games from Paladins to the most recent and not officially released Rogue Company. I've seen enough open world games on Switch and also seen fans make this game look and run better on Switch to know that this game can run a hell of a lot better on Switch without all the compromises.
I have watched Nintendo Life on YouTube for generations. After becoming a revitalized fan of the series since the last great games were for the Gamecube I had to make an account to cast my vote for Japan. I was shocked and disappointed. I spent 10 minutes creating my account and profile just to express my disappointment. Love the site.

Re: Poll: What Order Should You Play Live A Live In? And Does It Even Matter?
I'd say play chronological OR just go down the list one by one and play each one as they come up on the main menu.
