@Seacliff exactly. I work in software as a developer and we often have to do our own UX for the app before the implementation of a feature and I have to say that this is the best approach, due to the fact that the game is a roguelike amd there are no battle transitions like classical RPGs. This guy probably hates fighting games where every move can't even be displayed at once on screen much less mapped to every button. The idea of having every single button mapped to some action is terrible design and borderline impossible unless you do only have one or two actions at the most or are playing on an arcade machine with many buttons.
@Investor9872 wow ok, that's not the type of response I'd expect from a 40+ year old, but yea, to each his own. That's the great thing about opinions. I suppose in my time playing RPGs I've sort of gained the patience needed to allow me to effortlessly hold a bumper button down to pick from any of four attacks and press the corresponding button but maybe that's just me.
@Investor9872 "If you want to choose your own move, you have to hold the LZ trigger down to bring up a menu, and then proceed to choose your move. That's way too laborious and taxing for an rpg that has hundreds and thousands of battles"

You don't play very many RPGs, do you?
