Basically Reggie just hinted at a proper Metroid, it just isn't in development yet. They know you want it, and there will be one. Pretty much from now on they'll only show games coming out in a few months to 2 years. Federation Force's confirmation doesn't cancel out a proper Metroid, it never did. The problem is with NoJ. They don't reach out to Western fans as much as they should. What they need fo do is hire some Western devs to work on games that the Westerners want. All NoA and NoE can do is PR at this point, they have no say on what games get developed, just what gets localized.
That being said, the FF reaction was WAY too overblown.
