Yeah.. i wanted to wait for early reviews on this one but there was nothing specific to the Switch so I took a gamble over the weekend on the cartridge version (with a small discount available if you shop around in the UK - as low as 36 quid online and 40.99 at Argos)... Its actually playable and fun... an actual race game port with full feature set, reasonable graphics both docked and handheld and responsive controls. The 7 feels about right for a portable experience. The load times are there but nowhere near as bad as say gear club unlimited 2 so you just get used to them... didn't seem like minutes though (scratches head)...

Ok.. just took a stopwatch to the game (cartridge version with launch day patch)

Initial load from OS to splash screen - 65 seconds
From menu to start gate at first track (skipping cut scenes asap along the way) - 58 seconds
From mid game back to main in game menu - 20 seconds

@Gs69 I picked it up last week because I too saw the Argos price... be wary because when Argos does that, its often a secret stock clearance and when its gone, its gone (I missed out on a few because I waited)

As to the game, I briefly payed the first one on pc and I liked the idea more than the execution. This one feels a lot more fun and works well as a handheld sports game (I often struggle with tiny characters in other sports games on the switch - with just 4 players on screen, these are much bigger characters). To unlock all the players would be a grind but whilst I normally hate games that push you to buy in game credit, unlocking just the players in one go is quite cheap.

For me its not a game I would sit and play for hours on end... it does get repetitive... but for a quick 15-30 min fix whilst travelling, its a great pick up and play title (for 15 quid).

@retro_player_22 Race game market saturation around the mid to late noughties, player tastes change, a few too many big AAA race game flops and suddenly publishers and devs are wary of big race games... also, players have been trained by Forza / Gran Turismo etc to expect lots of licensed tracks and cars and those add to the costs, increasing the risks.. I feel things have picked up again on XB / PS4 and PC again over the last couple of years but the switch is playing catch up
