My Walmart pre-order did in fact get here before 9 am. Woke up about 25 minutes ago to a message it would be here around 6am, so it was here by at least 7:07 They also included some free snacks: a bottle of coke (with my middle name on it) and full sleeve of pringles (unfortunately not a flavor I eat, still pretty cool though).
mine are all still pending... but they've all sent me messages that my preorder is almost ready for shipping. haven't gotten a notification as to when my console arrives though, just the SD card and amiibo.
@Dev-N I think that's the case with Walmart getting the S2 in the nearest store and shipping the S2 out from there, it's the only way I can see them make good on their promise to have the systems delivered by 9am on release day. For people with later delivery dates, I assume they're just too far from a Walmart that offers delivery. 10am EST on the 4th is when the system launches in Australia, so technically Walmart and other US retailers can start shipping them out whenever they need to as long as it doesn't arrive before then.
@bigbankhank you're about 27 days too late mate, this article was posted on the 2nd of April, and preorders for the US and Canada started on the 24th of April.
@blecch it was nice to know I was actually in the running, I wasn't sure if I was or not since I'm on a family plan and not currently the one paying for it.
Nintendo just sent out emails to people in line for the North American preorders to let them know they're still in line, but gave no word as to when to expect the invite. Also confirmed that they'll keep going even after launch day.
@Overzeal Unless Walmart sends a message that they've cancelled someone's preorder, it shouldn't be an issue. The reason the rumor is going around is because the pending charge from Walmart is no longer showing up on bank statements, this is because they don't actually charge your account until the product ships. They put a hold/pending charge on your account to make sure you can afford the preorder, and it only stays up until they can confirm it. Once it ships THEN it will really charge your account.
Costco (at least in the US) will have the Mario Kart World bundle with an individual 1-year NSO Expansion Pack membership, however they won't be doing preorders.
Gamestop is actively working to cancel bot orders so they can have more stock, so if you didn't manage to get one yet, it's always worth trying again later. There's still ~6 weeks until launch, so there's still time for retailers to get more stock.
@Scarmucci yeah target was definitely the worst. I did have a good experience preordering my og switch from them, so I wouldn't completely count them out. Unfortunately for Best Buy this was their final strike, if there's a special edition metroid prime 4 I may try to get it from BB otherwise I won't likely shop there again (last time I went into a Best Buy was extremely depressing because it was emptier than the big lots I went to the day before it was closing down for good).
@Burning_Spear it's worth trying again a few times over the next few days, as people will be cancelling orders if they got more than one, stores won't put their entire allotment out all at once, and with a little over a month before launch there's still time for retailers to get more systems.
Target was a Charlie Foxtrot the entire night, I was in the Walmart line with a 1 minute estimate for almost a half hour, opened a second tab getting in line again and that second one actually went through first and I managed to get that one successfully (now just have to hope they don't cancel). Best Buy wasn't as bad as Target, but it was pretty close, when it finally switched from coming soon to pre-order it was immediately saying it was sold out and to try again so i refreshed and it let me get in line to preorder no longer saying it was sold out, but it acted like I was front of the line 3 times over the next 2 hours before it emptied my entire cart and told me they were now sold out.
@Runex2121 not really a surprise, Amazon US and Nintendo have had beef for a while now. Nintendo cancelled Amazon US's entire allotment of Luigi's Mansion 2 and Paper Mario Thousand Year Door. There's doubt Amazon US will even carry it aside from 3rd party sellers.
they'll likely "restock" a few times, so if you didn't get one it never hurts to check back later. if you get a "sold out" most sites will give you an option to have them send you an email when it goes back in stock.
Target was borked, I think I got a preorder through walmart (i got the confirmation email, but there's always a chance they'll cancel. Was in line on bestbuy for over an hour, and it kept acting like i was at the front of the line, then would throw me back in line 2 or 3 times before finally telling me it was sold out.
@killercerial but they are well more prepared than they have been for past console releases, they've already shipped millions more switch2 than they did for the launch of the switch1 and they've still got over a month to make and ship more.
that's the one benefit for those of us in NA having to wait until may to preorder from Nintendo, gives a back up plan if we can't get it from a retailer.
@LavaTwilight interesting that they'd send an invite if they were sold out, how soon after you got the invite email did you try to preorder? I don't know if Europe gets the same 72 hour window as it says US and Canada gets, but if that's the case maybe you tried too late. If they really did sell all of the allotted preorders I doubt they will restock until the system releases. That said, it's worth trying again, you might have luck later.
@Cakefish It's less likely your order will be cancelled since Nintendo won't take more orders than they have units for. Other retailers aren't guaranteed to actually receive all the systems they expect to receive, and the later you got your preorder in the more likely it is that a given retailer will cancel it.
There's a 90 day pause on the tariffs (until about 2 weeks before Donkey Kong Bananza releases), so hopefully Nintendo can ship out a bunch before then so as not to have to raise the price for North America.
@Ulysses allegedly they've already shipped a few million consoles to the US, before the tariffs went into effect, so hopefully that keeps the price from jumping that high.
@Manah well, allegedly they have already shipped out millions more Switch 2 units than they had available at launch for the Switch 1, and they no doubt have many more being made right now. So, it could still be the case they still have enough for everyone to preorder.
Has anyone in the US received an invitation yet? And for those of you elsewhere who already received invitations, did you get a preorder window other than the 8th through the 11th?
@mazzel ah ok, didn't notice the part about you not being currently subscribed, I saw you'd been subscribed for multiple years and thought you meant weren't subscribed the full 2 years prior to today.
@Dm9982 fortunately this time Nintendo is well prepared for console launch, as they've apparently already shipped out millions more switch 2 consoles then they had ready for the switch 1 launch.
@mazzel its weird that the requirements are so much stricter for europe than the US. that said it doesn't sound like you have to had been subscribed for the previous 2 years, just two years continuously at some point.
@StuTwo sounds like you had to have at least 50 hours of playtime total, not necessarily in the past X days. It's to minimize bots/scalpers with multiple accounts that haven't actually played the Switch.
well, I may not have been the one to purchase my current family membership, but I did have my own from the beginning until the 2023 holiday season, so hopefully I'm still eligible for the preorder. It doesn't say that the 2years had to be the last 2 years so I should be safe.
My guess is sometime around the time they get HOME updated for Scarlet/Violet (or Pokemon Stadium 2 gets added to NSO) they will release separate SP versions of Stadium each with a different version of gen 1 "installed" letting us transfer pokemon from the GB game to stadium without actually having to figure out how to take data from GB NSO to N64 NSO. Then the only way to play the GB/GBC pokemon games on NSO would be through Stadium with the NSO expansion.

Re: Where To Buy Nintendo Switch 2
I finally got my invite from Nintendo... 12 hours AFTER my Switch 2 had already arrived.

@VeganHerpes same here but it says the 5th for me. probably because I live just over a mile away from the nearest walmart.

For folks in NA, Gamestop starts online preorders at 11am EST, Target Starts at Midnight. I'm not sure for other retailers.

Great! Now we just need to know what time on the 24th. Will it be midnight or like 9am?
Re: Where To Pre-Order Nintendo Switch 2
Sadly, no North American preorder update during the MKWorld direct.

@Arkham24601 it doesn't sound like the invites are supposed to be going out yet, and the preorders directly from Nintendo haven't even started yet.
