it's not quite as one-sided as JK makes it seem, for the first 3/4s of the game you can get by without memorization, you just probably won't set any new records. for the final circuit, however, you need to put in some time and learn those patterns. i feel like super punch-out, though shorter, does have a bit more depth with the uppercut meter, than the nes version with its stars. also, ogre battle is awesome. a little like shining force meets final fantasy.
