Idea for the switch version. Animal crossing should add in gardens and cooking. So there could be a new tool from nooks shop that allows you to plow land. And from the garden shop they could expand it to allow you to buy fruit and veggie seeds. Each one having a different grow time like real life and each one needing proper maintenance(watering and maybe even fertilizing. Just like trying to maintain plants in real life). Once you grow more stuff you unlock different crops to grow.
However you could also use the ingredients to cook or sell if you choose. Perhaps a restaurant is something you could build for your town and you maybe even choose the theme. Wanna learn sushi? Grow some rice and catch some fish. Dive for a little seaweed(obviously a complex recipe). It’d be a cool feature to have. Idk what’s your guys opinions on this? Also the restaurant could be an alternative yet rewarding way to earn more bells
What’s crazy is the more you think about it the more you realize it could work. Rainy day? Great that means the crops will grow quicker. Frost season? Maybe you could build a green house(that one is a little bit of a stretch). Need an ingredient you don’t have? Maybe you need to combine a couple to make said ingredient ex: apple+honey(would get from bee hives)= apple jam
