Re: Wolfenstein Youngblood File Size Revealed, Trial Edition Listed On Switch eShop

@pedro702 I almost ignored this, because I can barely even comprehend parts of what you wrote.

In response, no, ffx/x-2 is not on a 32gb card. Both games total 14gb, why would it be on a 32bg cart? Asian English release? I'm assuming you mean the Japanese physical release? I haven't looked it up, but what could they add to games with no dlc that would add 2+ gb? Who is spreading fake facts here?

What makes you say developers have had it as an option from the beginning? Do you have insider knowledge? Some how I doubt that. In which case, you are a nobody with an uninformed opinion (same as me), who is making assumptions that no other developers have used the 32gb cart because it cuts into their profits based on literally nothing. That's probably why they are making cases that come with a download code for Youngblood instead of just making it download-only, right?

Get your ducks in a row, come back when you have some facts, and can form coherent sentences.

@Judgedean And what are you basing that assumption on? One game thats one of Nintendo's oldest franchises used it for a Japan-only release in the whole 2 1/2 years the switch has been out, and your assumption is that no one else has used it for anything, because it's too expensive? I need facts, otherwise that's your uninformed opinion. I'm not discounting that it could be the reason, but if it were a matter of price, I can't imagine Doom or Wolfenstein (AAA+ franchises that stretch back to the very beginnings of their genres, bought and played by hundreds of millions over the last 30+ years) would use 16gb and require downloads instead of putting it all on one cart if that were an option, much less for the two latest game in the series after the outcry from the additional downloads.

@JayJ

They had no problem releasing them as physical carts that required a download too, you're right, but there were tons of people who bought Doom and/or Wolfenstein who complained about having to download part of the game when they bought a physical copy. Maybe this was their solution to that, and of course now there are people who are complaining that there isn't a physical copy.

As to me making excuses for them, that's laughable in the extreme. If me suggesting that there could be another reason for them not releasing a physical cart other than decrying them as cheap and exploiting customers is me making excuses for them, than so be it.

Them being cheap? They are paying to make the cases for those physical releases that cost the exact same as a digitial download from the eShop. Definitely sounds like they are exploiting their customers. If they were being cheap it seems to me they would have just skipped a physical release all together, saved the money on the cases, and had basically the same people pissed at them who are pissed now. Do I think the way they did it was the smartest or best possible option from my point of view? Heck no. Do I know the things they had to do and features and plans they had to sacrifice to get the game to where it is right now? Also heck no, so while I can say "I wish they had done this." Or "I'd prefer it to be this way.", to accuse them of being cheap and trying to exploit customers because I don't like how they decided to release their game is absurd and incredibly arrogant and selfish.

@Prof_Yoshtonics

And name another game that's used a 32gb cartridge. One instance that's only available in one market isn't the best example. I'll give you they exist, but why have no other games used them?

And yes, they said the Witcher will use it, but when is that coming out? I haven't heard of any release date, though I may have missed it. Where as Youngblood is set to drop in 4 days, so obviously whatever options were available for the Witcher weren't available when Youngblood was being developed. Or maybe it would have driven materials cost too high to reach the pricepoint they set to sell the game at.

I'm just sick of people who have no idea what goes into making and selling games complaining about why some developer didn't just make the things they think should happen, happen, when they have no idea about the logistics behind it.

@Judgedean as far as I know, there is only one game that uses the 32gb cart, and it's not available outside of Japan. I could be wrong though, there might be more now. But if that's still the case, then it sounds like there is an issue with using the 32gb cartridges, maybe a supply problem or something, I dunno, I'm not Nintendo, but I do know of plenty of games that were bigger than the carts they used and a lot of people complained about buying a physical release and still having to download. Maybe this was their solution given their options.

Let me know what "goggle" tells you, though.

While I too would prefer a physical copy, all of y'all complaining about the lack of one and about how it's not right or fair that it's only a download atm, need to realize that it's literally impossible to put Youngblood on a Switch cartridge right now. The current switch carts are only 16gb, they haven't released the 32gb switch carts yet, so I'd like all these people complaining to explain to me how they expect someone to get 20gbs of data onto a 16gb cart.
