The Nes version of Double Dragon 2 turned a lot of my friends on to the series. However, this one seemed to be the preferred game. The co-op is one of the best around. The spin kick and knee require good timing, but once those are learned, the fun really begins. This will be the first VC game I've downloaded since late 2010.
Double Dragon 2 for the Nes, as a few mentioned, really was simple, addicting, and fun. It was really fun with a friend. It wasn't too easy or super hard. It was just right.
Even though this game didn't come with the co-op, it was still fun its own right. NOW, if we could only get the Nes's version of DOUBLE DRAGON 2, then the world would win.
Since the Virtual Console is going by the wayside to make way for the WIIWARE, then Nintendo should get the rights to multiple genres and release RETRO GENRE DISCS for the WII. For instance: Grab all the platforming beauties from the 8 and/or 16 bit (NES/Super Nes) and release them on one disc. Do it for all genres. Heck have people vote on games we would like to include. They could do a nice small ad campaign to promote it...get people back into it again. GLORY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN!
It is disheartining that the NES left out the 2-player; However, as a stand alone game, it is actual quite fun. Hopefully, we will see the NES's version of Double Dragon 2. That is co-op and is a blast. It was one of the few games some of my friends, who didn't enjoy video games, enjoyed playing. The knee and spin kick could be touchy at times to pull-off, but if you failed, your partner was always there to back you up.

Re: Review: Double Dragon II: The Revenge (Wii Virtual Console / NES)
One of the top 5 best Nes games.
Re: Nintendo Download: 21st June 2012 (North America)
Double Dragon 2, this Nes version, is for beat em up and non beat em up fans. Definately worth the $5.00.

Re: Review: Strider (Wii Virtual Console / Mega Drive)
Nice to see the VC is still breathing (barely). Whatever happened to the release date of Double Dragon 2? Anyone know?

Re: Contra ReBirth
This has my attention. I have to admit, Contra for the Nes and Super Contra for the Super Nes were two of the greatest co-op games created.

Re: Nintendo Download: Ninjas, Picture Books, Slot Cars, Sudoku and Guitars (US)
Has anyone heard if and when the US is getting the original arcade game of Shinobi?
I also wish they would release Nes's version of Double Dragon 2 and SEga Master System's "The Ninja." The Ninja rocked!
