Re: Zelda Voice Actress Patricia Summersett Speaks Out About Online Negativity And Criticism

The breadth and strength of female characters in BotW, and more so in AoC, is refreshing, but I feel that Zelda’s voice holds the character back. I don’t think this is a reflection of the voice actor, but more the voice direction that was taken generally.

There is nothing wrong with renaissance fair accent English but for me this harks back to the Zelda of old. The Zelda who is waiting for Link to save her, not the Zelda that has held her own against the calamity for 100 years while Link was in stasis or the Zelda that has overcome enormous pressures and self doubt to awaken her sealing powers. Somehow the latter two did not come across with the voice direction that was chosen.

This is a registered design, not a patent (although registered designs are sometimes called design patents). It protects how a product looks, rather than an aspect of how it functions like a patent. Most jurisdictions have a 12 month grace period for filing by a registered design, meaning you can make the design/product publicly available 12 months before filing the design application.

@DanElectrode For trademarks “YAHOO!” in the game is not prior art. It would be only considered “prior art” if “YAHOO!” was previously used to distinguish product/services as coming from a particular party in the same or similar product/service categories. Note that the capitalisation and the exclamation are part of the trademark and give the mark it’s distinctiveness.
