Despicable Me 1 had more of a visual personality.

I thought the Lorax and Grinch sucked and Mario didn't change my mind. Despicable Me 1 is clearly their best film to date.

Just because you don't want Martinet to voice Mario for a full movie doesn't mean Chris Pratt is the answer. Pratt sucked as Mario.

@milliag I didn't say she didn't have a backstory (she barely did), I said she didn't have character development throughout the film.

Anyways I think the Mario Movie is pretty terrible. I also think Illumination is a bad studio who's only good movie is Despicable Me 1. They aren't underrated and rather pathetic if you ask me.

I think the Mario Movie is bad because there is no cohesive plot nor character development. I also think the voice performances were really bad and they shouldn't pick popular actors to voice iconic characters simply because they are popular actors.

Illumination is pathetic and so is this movie. Have a good day.

@milliag Damsel in distress turned into a perfect character with no arc nor character development? Is that really the best Illumination has to offer? Kind of lazy and equally pathetic if you ask me.

@milliag Not really. She was basically perfect and not girly enough.

@milliag It's a movie with characters. It needs one for that alone.

Otherwise it'll get criticized. The Sonic movies despite its faults had character development. Films need it to strive.

But that doesn't mean you should brush away any criticism. This happens a lot with video game adaptation films because people are defensive with the franchise they grew up with. I get that, which is why I personally was not only NOT a fan but also disappointed.

@kalosn I been on this site for awhile, I just made this account though so I can comment. This came on the feed so I decided to share my thoughts. What's wrong with that? I thought the film was horrible, I wish it wasn't but it is.

"'What did you expect Citizen Kane'' excuse doesn't justify the lack of one. I expected a good movie. Also the VA's were mostly terrible.

@milliag "'Exactly what it needed to be'' is an excuse for it's lack of cohesive plot and character development. If you like bad films, continue to, but that doesn't mean it isn't bad. It sold well due to the brand, not plot. We are at an age where character development and good voice performances are "'Pseudo intellectual art house''

@PinderSchloss I'd rather have Goro work on a Zelda movie than Illumination. They are THAT bad. I will never get the hype.

@Rainz It was a pretty terrible movie. This is a film, not a game. A different medium where having a cohesive plot is the bare minimum to qualify to be a great film. Learn to have standards.

@kalosn This is Illumination, lmao. Bowser will be the main boss in all movies because he is portrayed by a famous actor and is the most popular villain in Mario. Illumination doesn't take risks.
