Re: Nintendo Acknowledges Network Issues and Suggests Patience

Because you know the two statements don't necessarily contradict each other. I don't think they should give us anything. Why does that mean I shouldn't take advantage of such an incentive if it occurred? Nintendo made what I think is a bad decision so I should do the same? Refusing to accept that kind of opportunity is just foolish and doesn't prove anything, just like accepting it doesn't prove anything either except I like free stuff too. I just don't think it's necessary and won't feel any different if they don't go that route.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe in this convenience driven world it should be a sin and a crime for anything to break that stride. Nintendo are the worst kind of people because they messed up and made three whole days less easy on the people upon whom they rely on the most. They should be forced to invent a way to give us back the minutes we all lost trying to click the Nintendo eShop icon on our Wii U and/or 3DS. I expect them to do that. A machine that adds minutes to three days. I won't rest until they make this happen.

@ that guy above
It'd just be stupid to not take it. I don't see how it makes me a bad person to say I don't think they should do it but not take advantage if they did.

My 3DS is in perfect condition and plays all my games. If the eShop never came back I'll want my funds back but until they announce such a thing is happening they've not taken anything from me. When it comes back if my funds are gone I'll want my funds back but until I see my funds are gone they've not taken anything from me. Why do I deserve compensation if nothing has been taken from me?

Re: Nintendo Acknowledges Network Issues and Suggests Patience

Someone already said the first obvious thing that comes to mind- Every time some little issue pops up people will start to expect compensation because of how "end of the world" these situations are. People already expect it now because "Sony did it that one time!" You don't deserve free stuff because you have nothing better to do when you can't waste money.

I forgot I wanted to say as a side note about the Zelda XL. I've seen in various place people talking about how it comes with a download code instead of having the game preinstalled like (I think) every other bundle has had. For the people who only got that system, I can see how it might be a bit of a frustration to have nothing else to do til the current issue is resolved.

Aside from that though- Before the Zelda XL I'd never bought a bundled system, my original 3DS was a standard midnight purple, but isn't the download code advantageous to people who are transferring their data from an old 3DS, like I did? If it's preinstalled wouldn't it get wiped on transfer?

@grumblegrumble

I didn't ask for an apology. I said I wasn't going to. I don't feel sorry for those thousands of kids who can't play video games. If the worst thing in their life is they can't play video games, they're not suffering. They should study or go out and breathe fresh air, or hell, how about talking to a real person instead of camping on the internet looking for something to fuss about.

@MysticX

Yeah I'm sure Nintendo thinks the same way. They have reason to react, they're really losing out as a business because of it. We're losing out on having something to fill our free time.

@Gamer83

There's no pretending on my part here. It's not that big of a deal. Three days out of the thousands I have lived (and hopefully thousands more) is not that big of a deal, especially because there are other things I can do in the meantime. I'm not surviving because of eShop's ability to operate. If it happened on a regular basis there may be some cause for concern but it isn't, I think the biggest fuss I've seen was when the whole Miiverse/NNID update happened a few weeks ago and it wasn't really much of an issue after the initial hours.

@grumblegrumble

Your message popped up as I was typing and I choked on my water because of how ridiculous your statement is. I won't ask for an apology, you probably expect I planned for that to happen.

"Nintendo ruined my life by not being perfect!"

That's what a lot of people sound like right now. It's not as if this was some planned master scheme Nintendo had to ruin the holiday season for many. It doesn't take a "fanboy" to realize that sometimes bad things happen, and as far as bad things go, this falls right around "Oh no, I tripped and fell down and it hurt a little bit but there is no long term damage." In a week most people will have made the purchases they had intended to make and nothing will be any different in those people's lives than if they had bought it today. The ones who returned their systems might want to consider investing in practicing patience with some of the time they won't be spending enjoying those products.

Can't wait for someone to tell me I'm wrong for not overreacting.

Edit: Also, in a week if it turns out Nintendo did plan to ruin Christmas, I will jump on the "Burn Nintendo to the ground!" bandwagon, I promise.
