Experimenting is still encouraged even if solutions are narrow because of the checkpoint system which puts you cleanly at the decision making point with minimal backtracking or time wasting. Also, I disagree with the author’s conclusion but the style and humor in this article is fantastic.
Honestly, Konami needs to go bankrupt and have their neglected IP sold off to actual game developers. Abandoning one of the greatest legacies in retro gaming to chase money in mobile and gambling is a decision that karmically condemns them to this type of fate.
