I haven’t been blown away by the screen but I haven’t been utterly disappointed by it either. It’s inevitable that Nintendo will release a Switch 2 revision at some point and I’m sure that version will have the “definitive” screen everyone is clamoring for. I’m guessing 2028 for that one.
I was more excited for DK Bananza than Mario Kart World when they were both first shown at the Switch 2 reveal back in April. After the media got to play Donkey Kong Bananza at the Nintendo Hands-On events more than one outlet was reporting that it wasn’t too impressive. Now after this direct and all the extras that were shown everyone is back on board. Never doubt Nintendo when it comes to their first party plarformers. You think yall would know that by now!
It’s all in the price difference. Switch had been $299 (Soon $349 with the OLED model) since the 2017 launch in the US. I’m using my iPhone 12 Pro Max as I type this and it’s easily over $1,000. The phone is so much more for utility and communication. I rarely use my phone fore gaming but it’s there if I want to. I wish Nintendo made a super premium model that was $1000 and ran PC games. I’d buy that in a second!!
I imagine 2023 we will see the next Nintendo Switch iteration. Follow my reasoning here: 2017- Nintendo Switch 2019- Nintendo Switch Lite 2021- Nintendo Switch OLED 2023- TBA Lite & Switch revision/upgrade
It appears every 2(ish) years the Switch has had an addition. I could even see a price drop or a different form factor for the Lite in 2022. But a full on Switch upgrade I’m betting on in 2023.
I’ve developed a decent eye for game quality over the years and after watching one gameplay video for this game I could see that it looked pretty rough. With so many great games available and coming soon to the Switch any poor games like this don’t stand a chance of being successful.
I really hope Miitopia being up-rezed to HD for the Switch from the 3DS is a sign that other 3DS games will be given a new HD shine and brought to Switch. Grezzo handled the Ocarina and Majora games on 3DS and seeing as how they helped with this version of Miitopia I have a feeling both previously mentioned Zelda 3DS games may be making their way to Switch in the future.
I would get this without a doubt it I knew Nintendo would let me share my already purchased digital library to a new Switch Lite. They would have a much larger rate of existing Switch owners buy a second or even third Switch/Switch Lite if they allowed a shared ecosystem with their digital storefront. Every other major player (Microsoft/Sony/Apple) allows multiple devices sharing the same account!
