Why is everyone complaining? This can only work to the game's benefit. If they spent time developing a half-baked story mode that wouldn't be that great anyway, then it would take away time from developing the REAL core of the game: the game mechanics and characters. I for one am still very excited for this game and it's potential to be the perfect Smash Bros game.
Damn that was a great article. Very well said. A lot of people don't seem to get this about gaming. It's about your own tastes and how much fun you have with a particular game! So many are focused on "which is better", that they lose sight of why we play games. To have fun.
That really is a shame. ZombiU was a GREAT original game that used Wii U's unique second-screen perfectly. It was a great horror experience that fully utilzed Wii U's capabilities. What that game NEEDS though is a sequel... there were some problems with the first that could be fixed in a second version that would make it a stellar horror game. It could be what Assassin's Creed II was to the first one. AC1 layed down the framework with great ideas, and AC2 perfected them.
I am actually trying to beat the original Legend of Zelda for NES on my 3DS! I got it from the Ambassador program last year but I never really got very far. I gotta see where my favorite franchise began! I might also be playing Donkey Kong '94 for GB and Pikmin 2, two games that I have never played before.
Dual-screen gaming is now a part of Nintendo's identity. Moving away from that concept would really require something revolutionary for the next generation. Nintendo is all about experiencing games in new ways. I really don't think they would settle for single-screen gaming anymore. I wasn't quite sold on the 3D of the 3DS until I played it, but now I can say it is my favorite gaming system and I use it more than anything else. The 3D is incredible and I wouldn't want to go back.
I'm just now playing through the SNES version on my 3DS, and I'm having a tough time enjoying myself. I know many people love the game, but I just can't seem to have fun with the gameplay. The art style is nice, but I get bored with it too easily. I may finish it eventually. I won't be buying the 3DS game, however. Too much of the same.
Seems like Sakurai is doing the best he can to make the very best versions of the games as possible. I have no problem with them cutting the roster, especially with the promise of new characters. It'll be sad to lose a few favorites, but think of the all new ones you will have. I'm all for whatever he decides!
