@Metafalica Thanks, the only reason I mention other titles is that SKB isn't as bad as some other titles out there & threads like these are bound to pop up with other games, I'm sick of seeing them too i'll be honest but hey it's gonna happen
@blodermoder Sooo Sexual Objectification doesn't happen in real life eh... Must be nice to not have strip clubs, prostitution etc in your fantasy world... It DOES happen in the real world. Racial Stereotyping happens in the real world too, I help run a car racing team & have employed female drivers before & you'd be amazed at the amount of flak they can get from other male drivers on other teams simply because they are women.... Sorry to say but this crap DOES happen. As I mentioned in my previous comment though my comparison with the PETA debacle is similar in that you're not focusing on the real problem, all the people that are offended by this game should remember that this is a game, it's not real, it's a video game by a small developer who got lucky at the end of the day & had a laugh because of it... If you really wanted to help the world become a better place with less objectification & racial stereotyping for women go out into the real world instead of complaining about a video game, which again if you don't like the look of don't play it... simple! Oh & while I remember does this mean I can complain once the sequel comes out since Senran Kagura 2 actually has 2 male playable characters.... jus sayin... equal oppourtunities & all.. speaking of which you'd also be surprised how many females I know who have actually played & enjoyed SKB fan service & all simply because they can see it as I do, a silly game that knows it's silly but is also a lot of fun.
FYI Whale killings did happen in games go play Assassin's Creed 4
At the end of the day I say the promotion of this game is very similar to the "Carry On" films from back in the day, it's silly fun & the makers & promoters know this, sure the game isn't to everyone's tastes, but if you're worried about your kids playing ("someone think of the children") the box has a rating on it & it's both YOUR responsibility & the shop assistants to prevent younger gamers getting their hands on games with material that isn't suitable in it!
For those offended by this game, look at it this way.. it could be MUCH worse, the characters are cartoony, there isn't any nudity (some people out there still think there is) & in the end it's not even real, it's a game, it makes as much sense as PETA complaining about killing virtual whales in Assassins Creed 4... As to whether this game should have been published? I think It should, it has & it's not done badly to be honest + if smaller Japanese devs see that even niche titles do well over here it may encourage more studios to release their games in the west!
In the end if you're offended by it, follow the advice given to every other form of media, if you don't like something don't listen, view or play it!
(Can't wait to see people's reaction to Akiba's Trip which was just announced for a western release )
I think those of you taking this game seriously are missing the point, I personally find it hilarious that a company can get a game like this on a Nintendo system & in stores with the box art it has! The publishers know that it's silly & I can applaud them for having the balls to a) give it a physical release, b) use the box art that it does & c) have a special edition that comes with a T-Shirt that when translated says "Breasts is life, Donkey is Hometown" on it ... seriously those saying that this game is "disgusting" etc get a grip it's silly fun kinda like the Carry On films were back in the day, the gameplay is supposedly relatively good & it's not all creepy fan fiction like some would be led to believe. Good on them for having the guts to bring it over & maybe it might just send a message to Japanese devs that no matter how obscure your game is it may just have an audience outside Japan & be worth releasing in other territories. It's not going to be for everyone granted but hey..
Backed this on Kickstarter what seems like ages ago! Been following it ever since, very strange watching their live streams from starting out doing pixel art & animations of Plague Knight in someone's apartment while playing through all the classic Mega Man titles to them getting their own studio has been great to watch.... & I still don't know what they are going to do with our faces! (some backers could send a pic off to them to have our faces in the game somewhere!) needless to say I'm extremely looking forward to getting my hands on the finished product on the WiiU!!
I'm guessing definite info on Mario Kart, Shovel Knight & Wooden Sensay since those are supposed to be released in May & March respectively... I'm hoping for info on Bayonetta 2 since that was playable at a few shows last year.... Beyond that PLEASE announce you're doing something with the VC or at least give us a date of when we can expect GBA, N64, DS etc on WiiU!
I'm waiting for "Hi, this is Reggie from Nintendo. We've just purchased the Mega Man franchise from crapcom"
Don't get my hopes up... I'd love for Ninty to make a Mega Man game especially if it was in the style of the Smash model...
Ugh.... Funny how other Indie developers have no trouble getting their games released in Europe & in other regions in a timely manner! I originally wanted to get Mutant Mudds Deluxe on my WiiU but since it's taken so damn long I eventually picked it up off of the U.S. PSN store on PS3 (again though it took a year for it to appear on the U.S. version of PSN too) Nicalis seem to be stuck in the 90's itself where game releases for Europe took over 2 years... I want to play this on WiiU I really do but if it looks like we're not going to get it then again I may be forced to pick it up off of a U.S. PSN store... once again it all comes down to region locking .. fun!
After this & the fact that the West won't be getting the physical version nor the limited edition of the new Strider game on other platforms either doesn't give me much confidence in them bringing EX Troopers over anytime soon.. It's more annoying with this title since Capcom want the sales numbers to warrant a release but aren't willing to give it a chance here in the west to make money in the 1st place....
btw for those interested GAME have recently updated their site with the poster pre-order details since I remember people mentioning in the last SKB article that GAME customer services at the time had no idea about the pre-order bonus
Capcom sooo need to bring this to the West! If I remember correctly the only reason they didn't was because of the sales numbers in Japan.
After reading the article on here the other day & watching the vid I imported the PS3 version, certainly no regrets! All i'll say is believe the hype this thing is great fun! Think Megaman Legends (I know I shouldn't bring that up but it's the closest thing) mixed with Lost Planet, there was even a pretty cool Limited edition version for the collectors out there:
@Kumite It's pretty import friendly, the menus are pretty self explanatory & the missions + controls are simple & easy to understand, the levelling up system isn't complex either (exp can only be spent on weapon & special attack upgrades) the only thing you'll be missing out on is the story but even then you can figure out the general gist of it all.
I'm intrigued by this simply because of how crazy the premise of it all is especially for something on a Nintendo system, would love to see the look on people's faces in the shops come launch day.. Moreso in GAME for the poster bonus
