@FierceMajoras Link has been ambidextrous since the beginning. He switches hands in Zelda 1, 2, LttP, Link's Awakening, the Oracle Series. Pretty much all the "2D" games.
The reason for that of course is because they simply mirror the sprite so they don't need to waste space on the cartridge for another sprite that isn't really needed.
But it was worked into the story of LttP (either the instruction manual or the official Player's Guide, can't remember which but most likely the PG.) Link always holds his shield toward Death Mountain and Ganon instinctively. Which is why he changes hands.

@BenAV I do. I distinctly remember people whining about the amiibo gear being "bull shit" and describing them as "microtransactions".
