@stache13 It's extremely complicated, and you have to listen to the experiences and opinions of different cultures to come close to understanding it. As far as I can tell, Mexicans were pretty happy with Mario's outfit and saw it as positive representation. But Native Americans just DO NOT like redface. At all. It's understandable imo, they have different experiences with depictions of their culture.
I just have a question for anyone about to say "ugh, everyone's so offended all the time! stop making an issue over everything!" Before you comment, please just entertain this one question:
Do you think you know more or less about the issues of redface and the native American experience than the people offended? If you know nothing about them, can you really know for sure that you disagree with the people who might have very legitimate reasons for their offense; the people who Nintendo agree with on this issue?
That's it. You're free to have whatever opinion you want. I just want you to consider that first.
But some quick context: The first person to complain about this on Twitter was, in fact, native.

@Kalmaro That's why I'm not speaking for the majority. but neither should you.
Re: Nintendo Will Remove Smash Bros. Ultimate's Offensive Depiction Of Native Americans
@Equinox are you seriously saying people will boycott smash because they chose not to offend native Americans?

@Kalmaro The few Native Americans I've seen comment on this are against it. Why are you deciding for them that it's not offensive to them?
