Re: PlatinumGames Wants The Wonderful 101 On Switch

I can see why the Wii U ports are concerning to people. The Switch had an awesome first year of fresh exclusive content - see Super Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2 (which is absolutely a legit sequel and not "Splatoon 1.5"), Xenoblade 2, ARMS and Mario/Rabbids. But so far, the third-party slate for 2018 has been very light on fresh content and heavy on ports. It's feeling a bit like the Game Boy Advance's second year, which is not a good thing.

I fully expect the second half of the year to make up for it though, especially if Smash indeed does release in '18. My first reaction was to say "No way, they're not gonna make that release window" - but I said the same thing about Xenoblade 2, and look at what happened...!

If there's one game that strikes me as genuinely likely to be announced, it's a new Luigi's Mansion for Switch. Enough time has passed since Dark Moon, the series has certainly been successful enough to warrant a third entry, and apparently Super Nintendo World at Universal is even including a Luigi's Mansion ride. I have a hard time believing they're going to make a ride based on a subseries they don't plan to continue.

I also feel like a new Dr. Mario for Switch is inevitable, since the Switch is such a perfect fit for it.
