Okay, Street Fighter II blows. The only good Street Fighter was Street Fighter III: Third Strike. I don't understand why everyone likes that old piece of junk. It's way too frantic, the characters are sorely unbalanced, and most of them suck.
As for this game, the only version worth owning in the Genesis port.
So basically Cally, what you're telling me is that the reason protagonists of numerous Japanese video games are teenaged males...is because of Japanese culture? You don't really believe that, do you?
And yes, before you accuse me, I did delete my old post. I didn't like the direction I took it.
I'm not a controller enthusiast or anything, but the Sony's controllers are perfect for fighting games. And I don't mean Tekken-style fighting games, I mean Street Fighter III: Third Strike, KOF XI, and Marvel Vs. Capcom 2. I couldn't imagine playing those games on any other console. Though, Capcom Vs. SNK 2 on the Gamecube is pretty good (despite the size of the Gamecube controller's d-pad).
Man oh man, you defend your title of "Captain_Comedy" so well! My sides are officially split! Please...encore, ENCORE!
Seriously though, it's just the nostalgia talking. That game was good for its time, and that's all. And I know you'll write a big response to the contrary, but I'm just going to say it. Super Mario Bros. 3 was made on the NES, and it looked, sounded, and played much better than all of its predecessors. Even Super Mario Bros. 2, which blew chunks, was superior.
But I can relate. I love Sonic '06 to death, but practically everbody else thinks of it as abysmal. This is probably because I adore Sonic titles, so I will overlook its many faults. In fact, it's one of my favorite Sonic games of all time. So, what drives a person to love crap? Nostalgia, and that's all.
Oh yes Bass, thank you so much "for putting forth factual information". But just because he corrected me, doesn't change the fact that this game is a piece of garbage. The review states that the levels have variety. Are they kidding? It's the same caves and grassy hills over, and over. The music is repetitive, since there are only a couple of tracks, and I said it best about the bosses giving "repeat performances".
The first Super Mario Bros. had an excuse for being crap, it was created before man discovered fire. But even that had more substance than this abomination.
Luckily, they corrected all of the problems when they developed Super Mario Bros. 3, and Super Mario World. Now, playing those games was a "highly enjoyable experience".
@ Blk_Mage_Ctype Thank God someone started talking about politics! Hey, I have an idea! Let's talk about the historic election of Barack Obama, or maybe how bad the economy has gotten and how it's all Bush's fault!
Wait, I thought of an even better plan! Let's complain about paying extra money for video games, and leave the politics to the people of CNN. After all, that's what they get paid for. Is that going to be okay for you?
I don't see the point in purchasing any of the Final Fight games when Streets of Rage 2 and 3 are up for grabs. Both titles look, sound, and play a whole lot better.
To answer your question Digiki, no, that's not why I like SMRPG (though, it certainly does help). However, when it comes to effeminate male protagonists, nobody in the Final Fantasy continuum has anything on Link. Wouldn't you agree?
Man, you must really like Final Fantasy. I mean, you'd have to, why else would you give any entry of that dreadful series an "easy ten".
Seriously though, what is so great about those games? Is it the monotonous gameplay, effeminate male protagonists, or the annoying repetitive music? I'd love to know.
This game is fun Mickeymac, and the pop-up book aspect is very charming. Excellently worded! And yeah Slangman, a 7/10 is appropriate. Because, if you're like me, you like a game to have a good story. And, like most (not all) Nintendo titles, this game can't deliver.
This game isn't so bad (I do agree, it is overrated), though I believe that Twilight Princess is far superior. The climactic fight scene (despite the difficulty) was epic, you got to be adult Link, and no Tingle!
"Somebody" erased their post that previously sat above mine, which made my comment more relevant. "Whoever" wrote it stated that this game was the best game on the VC, bar none. So I responded with a big ol' NOPE!!!!!
I found this game to be rather boring. They recycle the same few songs over and over, in traditional Mario fashion. But to make it worse, the bosses are always the same two guys. I have this for the NES, I'll just stick with it.
When it comes to Castlevania, my heart belongs to Symphony of the Night, and Bloodlines for the Genesis. Dracula looked so awesome in Symphony, and what a commanding presence.
The only reason these games are overrated is because they're incredible. Now Mario titles on the other hand, are overrated. I'd say only Super Mario World, Super Mario Bros. 3, and Super Mario 64 are worth owning.

Re: Review: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (NES)
You're absolutely right Nintendork, this game blows. I like Manhattan Project, they should just skip the crappy sequel and release that.
Re: Gate of Thunder
This game is completely inferior to Lords of Thunder. I've tried both, and there really is no comparison.

Re: Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen
^ I totally agree.
Re: USA VC Update: Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen
Did I ever mention that I love ClayFighter?

Re: USA VC Update: Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen
Oh man, only one game?
Re: USA VC Update: Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen
Not my cup of tea.

Re: Wisconsin To Tax Digital Downloads
"Nothing matches the original Sup MB" huh? You know, you should rename yourself "Captain_Comedy", because that was a joke.
Re: Review: Mega Man 2 (NES)
Mega Man games have terrible stories, just like Mario games. But sometimes, I guess a complicated story is unnecessary.
Re: Super Mario 64
I have no idea.
Re: Review: Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (MD)
This is a really good game.
Re: The TurboGrafx-16 Returns to North America in March
I love the first level of Rondo of Blood. The music is so cool.

Re: Super Mario 64
This game is much better than Super Mario Galaxy, but the best game ever? I don't think so.
Re: Review: Super Mario 64 (N64)
Much better than the DS version. And in my opinion, it looks better too.
Re: Super Mario World
I think Super Mario Bros. 3 is the best of the series, though this is definitely in the top three.
Re: The TurboGrafx-16 Returns to North America in March
I completely agree Virus. I want "Bomberman 64: The Second Attack", and "Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon" so badly. Alas, they are always overlooked.
Re: Detana!! TwinBee
Looks okay. Never played it though, so I can't be sure.
Re: Review: Boulder Dash (C64)
So is Killer7. As for this game, never heard of it (until now, obviously).

..."meaningless wars", ugh.
Re: The Revenge of Shinobi
Then I guess all I can say is...thank God I'm not a gaming master!
Re: Review: Final Fight (SNES)
I don't see the point in purchasing any of the Final Fight games when Streets of Rage 2 and 3 are up for grabs. Both titles look, sound, and play a whole lot better.
Re: The Revenge of Shinobi
This game is just awful. There's almost no point in wasting your money on this when Shinobi III is available.
Re: The TurboGrafx-16 Returns to North America in March
I liked this game on the Genesis, so I might give this one a try.
Re: Review: Sonic 3D Blast (MD)
This review is spot-on, though I would have given it a 5/10. It's easily the worst Sonic game on the Genesis.
Re: Review: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (SNES)
To answer your question Digiki, no, that's not why I like SMRPG (though, it certainly does help). However, when it comes to effeminate male protagonists, nobody in the Final Fantasy continuum has anything on Link. Wouldn't you agree?
Re: Wisconsin To Tax Digital Downloads
I rarely make purchases on the VC these days, so this doesn't really affect me.

Re: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Where's Manhattan Project? They haven't even released the sequel yet, so I know I've got a long wait ahead of me.
Re: Review: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (SNES)
I love this game. And I agree with VC-Reviews, a flawless 10/10!
Re: Review: Yoshi's Story (N64)

Re: Review: Samurai Shodown II (Neo Geo)
Crimson Viper is an awesome character. That's what I think. Does she play good? She looks like she would.
Re: Review: The Last Ninja (C64)
I remember playing this when I was younger. Man, I hated it.
Re: Take Five and Double It!
I prefer the 5 star ratings. More clever, and aesthetically pleasing.
Re: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
This game isn't so bad (I do agree, it is overrated), though I believe that Twilight Princess is far superior. The climactic fight scene (despite the difficulty) was epic, you got to be adult Link, and no Tingle!
Re: Review: Super Mario Bros. 2 (NES)
Right, I forgot Wart. Regardless though, that's still only five bosses total, with many, many, many repeat performances.
Re: Review: Super Mario Bros. 2 (NES)
Birdo and Mouser are the only bosses you fight throughout the entire course of the game.

Re: Vectorman
I thought Vectorman 2 was a better game. But as they say, the value of art is subjective.
Re: USA VC Update: Commodore 64 Launches With Three Games
Oh no! I don't have any Wii Points! How will I be able to download these amazing titles!? Oh woe is me!
Re: Review: Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES)
This game is my favorite Mario title, hands down! You'll all probably want to buy it now.
Re: Review: Sin and Punishment (N64)
Star Fox 64 is a lot better than this. If you have to choose between the two, it's really is a no-brainer.
Re: Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse
When it comes to Castlevania, my heart belongs to Symphony of the Night, and Bloodlines for the Genesis. Dracula looked so awesome in Symphony, and what a commanding presence.
Re: Secret of Mana
I own Brave Fencer, and it's very fun. It's like Square was trying to make an interesting game for once in their lengthy career.
Re: Take Five and Double It!
One thing you have to remember about opinions, is to never trust any but your own.
Re: Sonic the Hedgehog 2
