It's just another window in time. Lots of things that seemed endless died off. I don't want to see physical games go, but I doubt they'll ever die off 100%. By then I'll be way to old to even hold a controller, so I don't care.
Your comment is great, because it's true I don't understand why there is even a debate about this to begin with. Nintendo owns Metroid and can do whatever they want with it. If they want to make a turd of a game that carries the Metroid name then so be it.
That is not to say that Federation Force is a turd. How could we know that at this point? Not one of us has played it. What I don't understand is how people can express such negativity towards Nintendo and still call themselves a fan.
I've been with Nintendo since the NES. I love Nintendo. Are they perfect? No. Have they disappointed me before? Yes. Still, I think they lead the industry in more ways than just one. How do you think Mario has survived for all these years? Innovation, my friends.
If you don't think you'll enjoy Federation Force then just don't buy it when it comes out. Wait for the next Metroid Prime game if that's what you want to do. Fact is, Nintendo owes us nothing.
Ordered mine for Wii U, as well. Considering my only other console is a 360, I'd have to pay M$ more money just to be able to play multiplayer, so....
Who cares. I'd rather have the cheaper version that is minus MP.
EDIT:
Another thing is, EVERY game that comes out nowadays has some multiplayer component to it. I don't understand why companies even waste their time and money. These games usually get played online for maybe 2-3 months before the community winds up dead. Why not just focus on a great single player experience?
No offense to this guy, but I will always remember Lou Albano and Danny Wells when it comes to the voices of Mario and Luigi. I think their voices fit the characters perfectly.
I can't understand why so many are ashamed to admit they ever even watched The Super Mario Bros. Super Show, let alone like it. I, for one, remember the show fondly, and will always consider all the voice actors involved in the show to be the best any Mario character ever had. Period.
When I first played Mario 64, I was actually very startled by what Nintendo considered Mario to sound like. It took me a long time to get over it. Eventually other characters like Luigi, Toadstool, Toad, Bowser, etc. followed. I still love Nintendo and Mario. I guess I just tune out all the horrible voices at this point.
The thing that scares me about crap like this, is that people are eventually going to have themselves convinced that $60 is too much for a game. It will be the death of the industry. Mobile/social gaming are just business models, poisons, that will eventually convince too many that paying $0.99 for a game is the same as paying $60.
Why do I like paying $60 for a game? Because I know it's going to deliver an experience that you can't get for free or $0.99. Mobile/social will not catch up in this regard ANYTIME soon. Can you imagine Halo 4 costing $0.99 or Zelda releasing for free?! Not gonna happen.
I hope that many of us continue to vote with our money. If we pay $60 for Nintendo's games, they will succeed as a company. Making people who write this trash look as stupid as they are.
I didn't spend too much time with Hulu (in order to get my two free weeks I have to give them CC info, so I never went any further), but I did watch one of the sample videos. The quality was decent.
I think I will stick with Netflix. Same price and no ads. Ads are for freeware imo. This is the main reason I don't have cable... Why pay all that money when you have 30 minutes of commercials in the way of you and a show?!
The one game I remember is Perfect Dark. My friends/siblings and I used to play that game so much the expansion pack would overheat and cause the game to lock up.
Other games would include Mario Kart, Pokemon, and Halo LAN parties
In a way, online multiplayer actually made it harder for me to play multiplayer games, as now all my friends play different stuff :/
The thing that makes the Maku Wuhu glitch suck, is that because it is so easy to pull off you'll find yourself matched up with tons of others who only vote for that one course alone.
Obviously winning becomes way too dang important to people, so they only choose to race in a course where they hope to gain an unfair advantage.
Is it just me or has in been almost a month since we got any VC games on the Wii? I guess when Nintendo is done with something they're done with something
I am so glad I didn't buy a 3DS. Things like this are exactly why I held off on getting one. Maybe in 2-3 years there will actually be enough good games on the market to justify a purchase.
I don't even open my shop channel anymore lol. It's sad to think that as crappy as this VC release is, it's still a VC release, which means Nintendo is off the hook for the next 2-3 weeks. After that, we'll probably get more junk haha!
I would also like to see cartridges make a comeback... Now that we don't have to deal with crappy save batteries =D Plus I don't really like moving parts in my systems. (Noise, heat, they wear out... etc..)
Plus Nintendo will have to let me transfer my VC/Wiiware for free or a small fee, or else I won't bother until 3-4 years after its launch when it's dirt cheap.
Here is something I cannot wrap my mind around. Why does a systems power have to define how good it is? Remember when games were just gasp fun?
Never mind if it has great games or not... Look at some of the best looking games for PS3 or 360... Like platformers or shooters... How are they any different from ones before their time? Uh... Well... They look prettier? That's it...
In my opinion we aren't ready for any new consoles because no developers are even bothering with what we have now. People just make HD HD HD HD and suckers buy it up not needing to know anything else. Motion controls are mostly just a gimmick, and despite the processing power no developer actually puts that to good use (how about actually making better AI in games...) save for OOOO SHINY...
I think the current Wii looks fine, without any need for HD. Should Nintendo make another console I hope they use lesser hardware than that of whatever Sony/Microsoft counters with. Using older hardware makes something both more reliable and affordable.
I agree. Despite the %&#@*ing I myself do, I can at least admit that it makes a lot more sense to either hook up an old system, or completely track one down, buy it, and then hook it up in order to play older games.
Clearly Nintendo isn't using the VC to its full potential (let's face it, not anywhere even close) for reasons unknown. I guess as a fan it's hard to not let stuff like this bother you
Oh well...It's good to live in Japan/Europe at least
Oh my god yes! So much more great stuff to spend my money on! Woot! I can't wait until next week when 3 more pieces of ^%*$ come out because I love spending money!!! I am going to go buy a DSi right now so I can catch up on all the awesome stuff that has come out for it's online service right now!! I've always wanted 300 different clocks, calendars, and calculators! Now's my chance to own them all!! YES!!! I don't even need the Fast Draw Showdown demo, I am just going to buy it as I'm sure it's awesome!! YES!! Did I mention I'm doing it right now!!(?)
So what if a game costs $50! That is clearly a sign of the amount of work that went into the programming within the plastic, not the plastic itself!
Plus when you pay $50 for a game you are bound to get at least anywhere from 20-100 hours (it's different for all of us) of enjoyment out of the product whereas a 99 cent application is going to show you all of what it's about within the first few minutes of playing.
For a second I honestly thought we were going to get FF VI today. I won't be surprised if it winds up being another game the US does not get. I can say the same for Lufia, Chrono Trigger, Megaman X, and more.

Amen to that.

Re: Monolith Soft: We Want To Be Like Bethesda
I hope they don't mean that literally. Fallout 3 was fun, but Bethesda games have way too many bugs in them.

We are in an RPG recession! Bust out your SNES!
Watch them pull some lame garbage and hold all these titles for release on Wii U...

I must admit I am surprised. I expected either FF3 today, or the usual nothing.
Definitely buying this, and I won't be pissed if we don't get anything for the next 30 days
Thanks Nintendo!

Shame I don't live there
It's going to be hard to watch this and Megaman X head over to you guys while the US gets nothing but Wiiware demos... Cries
