Re: Nintendo Is A Slave To Its Past Success, Says Gearbox President Randy Pitchford

@JaxonH you say they innovate yet you don't mention how they do it within this generation. My comment was related to how their hardware brings innovation to their gameplay however the Gamepad hasn't provided much of it with the current Wii U lineup.

And don't say Nintendo panders to their fans. They do whatever the hell they want all the time which most of the time is good (Super Mario Maker, Bayonetta 2, etc.), but currently is mostly bad (all new games announced in the Digital Event).

Nintendo's problems are that they don't innovate anymore (even withing their established franchises) and weren't ready for the transition to HD games. I'm pretty sure they'll hit a home run with their next console but they need to stop rushing things. Therefore, they need 3rd party support or they will have to rush Zelda, Mario, Mario Kart, and Smash again.

Re: Editorial: Cheer Up, There Are Some Exciting Games on the Way

My feeling is that as days have passed it is still very worrisome how little they showed and how insensitive they were toward fans expectactions.

By worrisome I mean that there are no announcements for new or significant Wii U games and with the NX coming, it sends a message that they've moved on. And it cannot be argued that they wanted to concentrate on games coming this year or early next year as in the past they've shown games coming a year from E3 and it was still exciting. This definitely sends a message that, apart from Zelda, there's not much coming for Wii U (this is not doom and gloom, this is something anyone can positively feel without being exaggerated.

Finally, they were super insensitive and it shows how out of touch Nintendo is that fans were clamoring for a new Metroid and a new Animal Crossing and they release these party and multiplayer titles that it's proven the majority of the fans don't want. These games should've been shown at a later Direct but not in the Digital Event which had such great expectations.

As many have said, the positive side for me is that for what's left of the year and early 2016, my wallet will be able to take a break

@Hy8ogen and @readyletsgo I'm glad you guys are getting the game, and if possible I will also get it on day 1. It just looks so amazing.
My worry is that Nintendo won't help promote the game and it's sad because I've read the developers are giving a lot of love to the Wii U version. It might even show the the best of the console's capabilities a la Mario Kart 8. Let's hope Nintendo is smart on this one and they help with advertising the game.

Re: Nintendo Looking To Grow Wii U Audience To Tempt Back Third Parties

SFR79

The truth of the matter is 3rd party games have sold poorly on the Wii U and I think it's mainly due to the type of audience Nintendo attracts plus the fact that these games are not promoted anywhere and there are even no demos on the Wii U eshop. This is baffling as there is no way you can get to know how great a game is, unless you play it and it needs to be taken into account that not many people follow gaming websites or Nintendo Directs, so a release of a game like ACIV, means nothing to the average Wii U owner.

It's sad because if 3rds parties weren't lazy they could make great use of the Gamepad and, besides graphics, the Wii U version of a multiplatform game could be the best on Wii U. Just imagine the possibilites with GTA V!!

So yeah, Nintendo will make the right decisions to increase console sales, but we will never get the great games that will be coming for PS4 and Xbone. Maybe, just maybe, we will get more exclusives like Lego City and what they initially planned to do with Rayman Legends.

But we need more demos in the Wii U eshop!
