Yokai Watch is specifically catered to a Japanese audience. It's monsters are so heavily inspired by Japanese folk lore that it suffers from not having universal appeal which is one of Pokemons strengths.

This is also a detriment to it's marketing and merchandise line. Isn't one of the Yokai an old lady? Can't see that selling well as a t-shirt or soft toy.

Nice to see Nintendo marketing towards its key demographic.

No seriously! I'm not being sarcastic, look at the last few years of shallow marketing towards an older audience when really Nintendo should be focusing on a new generation of kids. They can show to be the alternative to tablets.
