Great Review. The game is still good without online IMO. Local multiplayer just has much more fun because you're having a good time and socializing with friends. Hopefully they'll update rosters to keep up with the changes of the NBA season. That would be neat.
Finally, a true classic sidescrolling linear Castlevania. It's more like the NES and PC engine games but that's fine with me. Hopefully Konami will make another regular classic Castlevania game
While many hail it as the best of the series I tend to disagree. I do like the game as the 4 player mode is excellent and a blast to play but there are a few issues that must be addressed. First, there is no music during gameplay in the multiplayer mode. Mario Kart 64 has the best soundtrack in the series other than the DS version (Waluigi Pinball anyone?), so how was it that they couldn't do that in this game? They did it in Wave Race 64, Excitebike 64 and F-Zero X. That is unacceptable. The second is that the turning and drifting is not as good as the Ds or the GCN version. Even though this game came earlier, there still is a problem. I don't know about you but I felt that Super Mario Kart was fantastic game that did have it's shortcomings, most notably the turning. I was one of those who thought that this would be solved in Mario Kart 64. And it kind of was, just too good. Having too much control of your turning led to many slip-ups during the especially tough stages, such as Sherbert Land and Toad's Turnpike. Lastly the game feels rushed. It was way too easy and way too short for a racing game. Cmon guys Rad Racer was longer than this game. In conclusion Mario Kart 64 was a great game but not the best of the series. I'll give that to Mario Kart Double Dash.
Secret of Mana has to be my favorite RPG on the SNES. The 3 player mode was extremely well done and was well balanced. The weapon upgrades and charging system was done very well also. Everything in the game, from the music to the graphics had a special charm to it that I didn't seem to find in FF2 or FF3. It's a shame that the only good sequel was Seiken Densetsu 3.
There is a reason the game is known as a holy grail of shooters, its awesome. Controls are smooth and the gameplay is fresh and appealing. I do have 2 problems with the game though. One, it's too freaking easy. I beat the whole game on normal without losing a continue. The second is that it's way too slow paced for my tastes. I prefer shoot em ups to be fast paced and wild. But these are only minor inflictions. However, if you can buy Lightening Force, buy that instead.

Re: Review: Blazing Lazers (Virtual Console / TurboGrafx-16)
In my opinion, the best shmup brought out by Compile and the best shmup of all time.
Re: R-Type III: The Third Lightning
Best shmup on the Snes even better than Axelay
