@Polvasti Definitely, I know what you mean! According to the company, the tolerance on the dock of the Switch 2 is so tiny that any additional thickness would make it a tight squeeze and risks scratching the screen. I dunno! I haven’t tried any of the other case options
@Polvasti when you put the case on, it doesn’t fit in the dock anymore, so this was their solution so it could still be docked without removing the case. It’s a fairly elegant solution (provided it works, and mine does just fine!).
@Jeronan yes, it’s designed so that you can use the Joycon grips without the main case. They’ll eventually sell those separately but I believe they don’t yet.
For what it’s worth, I have the Killswitch 2, and I think it’s an impressive piece of kit that feels great. I’m not experiencing any of this issue with the dock. The passthrough signal works just as intended, and I can take it out with one hand. It’s not quite as easy a slide in as the standard dock, but it’s otherwise just fine. I think the issue with the signal was a defective model, and any company can have a defect. The fact that the Joycons are looser is probably true with all of the units, but for me at least, it doesn’t seem like something that’s going to happen with normal use, so I just don’t see it as an issue. I’ve only had it for 24 hours though, so I’ll update this post if things change!
Awesome article—I have the same condition and have never reached the end of Metroid Prime, so I never knew about the problem. So glad it’s solved now! I’ve long been bothered when developers use the green-yellow and blue-purple pairings that are hard for colorblind individuals to distinguish. There are plenty of such pairings that are easily distinguishable, especially by picking two different brightnesses.
My daughter was playing this on XBox, and I told her we had a real power washer and real fence that needed cleaning if she wanted, and she said, “Nah.”
Awesome! Anyone have concerns about the updated graphics? The text boxes I don’t mind, but I’m not sure whether the original pixel sprites will gel with the updated backgrounds or not.
