Re: Nintendo Issues Copyright Strike Against Scanned Super Mario 64 Guide From 1996

MrDannyB

So glad to see that nowadays the over whelming majority on here seem to be firmly against Nintendos over the top legal stance on things like this- believe it or not as little as only a few years ago I remember when nearly every comment on articles (from this site in particular) regarding fan reproductions/re-releases such as this were nearly all firmly in Nintendos favour (only spotted one or two instances in the comments for this article where people have parroted “its their IP they have every right...” for example- THAT little gem used to crop up every other comment!) , can only imagine that several years of Nintendo banging the same C&D drum has taken its toll on even the most forgiving of their fans.

Re: New Restrictions Placed On Time Travel In Animal Crossing: New Horizons

MrDannyB

I dont think TT was such a problem for previous games in the series but now with the advancement of social media since New Leafs era its incredibly hard to avoid spoilers (save for absconding from the internet entirely 😅). Its reassuring to know that people can TT backwards to events they may have missed however so all is not lost for players who do like to TT, doing it this way keeps everyone happy & even those who are completley against TT no longer have an argument against it.

Re: Feature: How A Donkey Kong Clone Almost Scuppered Nintendo's Ambitions In The West

MrDannyB

To be fair at the time of release wasnt Donkey Kong seen as just a thinly veiled knock off of King Kong? I remember at the time of release upon seeing the cabinet/original promotional artwork featuring a giant gorilla that Donkey Kong just HAD to be some kind of official King Kong spin off- Dont get me wrong, I love the big N but typical litigious Nintendo & their double standards again even back then lol😅

Re: Nintendo Lawyers Hit Fan-Made Zelda Game With Fatal Copyright Claim

MrDannyB

Whilst I dont like whenever Nintendo does things like this and gets the lawyers involved I'm afraid that usually whenever it happen these days its is entirely the fan developers own fault- they know full well by know how Nintendo is going to react to this but still they advertise & promote the hell out of their fan project before it's even complete- what on earth do they think is going to happen?! Luckily this guys game is already online & will remain that way forever despite Nintendos objections but for any budding developers who are considering making a Nintendo fan game in the future for crying out loud keep that information to yourselves & dont promote it until the development is complete & the game is made available online! If what you produce is good enough then the game will promote itself upon release, no need to "drum up the hype" before it's even released as we all know how it's going to end up anyway.

Re: Mini Review: Macbat 64 - A Pitifully Weak Clone Of Those N64 Platformers You Know And Love

MrDannyB

That's a shame. I picked it up after it was featured in an article on NL highlighting it's cheap launch price (less than £2!) about a week ago as I wanted to support the developers pricing model. Gotta say for the price I paid I was very pleased, it was an admittedly short though utterly charming little game with plenty of humorous dialogue throughout and was made by a team of less than 5 people all for less than the price of a pint! Pick it up if anything to support this very forward thinking pricing model- would be nice if it were to catch on! Lol😜

Re: Random: Someone Made A Manual For Super Mario 3D All-Stars To "Complete The Physical Set"

MrDannyB

I notice it's only on this website you get people furiously defending Nintendo if someone dares to make an unofficial product/rom of one of their products- no offense but most normal people on other gaming websites dont ever tend to pay that sort of thing much mind, laughable really. Fair enough most of this stuff isnt 100% legal but then again Nintendo (& probably some of you complaing) are often no angels in that regard neither. Leaving myself open for the "ok Boomer" comments I know but back when they used to show those "you wouldn't steal a car" antipiracy trailers before every vhs movie & "dont copy that floppy" was still new people used to mock those things- when the hell did people start defending these big wealthy companies so vigorously as if they had a stake in Nintendo themsevles?

Re: Nintendo Cracks Down On The Super Mario 64 PC Port

MrDannyB

Good thing these guys had the foresight to release this port without announcing much in the way of information beforehand therefore drawing Nintendos eire & the inevitable shutdown that tends to happen to a lot of these fan projects cos as we all know once something is on the internet its there forever👍🏻👍🏻 Let this be a lesson to anyone else in the future who fancies developing any fan projects based on Nintendo properties- keep it until yourselves until your project has been completed and uploaded😜 Just common sense really with what we know about how Nintendo views these sorts of things.

Re: Guide: Streets Of Rage 4 Secret Retro Level Locations

MrDannyB

Whilst I agree with everyone annoyed at the editor of this article for blatantly posting spoilers in its headline (I discovered the first retro stage on my own on release day otherwise I’d be furious!) the sad fact is that we all clicked on this article though didn't we? It got the views hence it brings in the money hence it WILL happen again with future popular releases. Dont get me wrong- I’m not defending the editors actions in any way- they knew damn well what they were doing, very inconsiderate. But with any future releases that you might be heavily invested in it may be a good idea to stay away from NintendoLife at least until you have finished the game in question and discovered its secrets organically.

Re: Gamevice's Patent War Against Nintendo Continues, As ITC Moves Forward With Evidentiary Hearing

MrDannyB

Oh come off it 😂😂. I don't want to see Nintendo getting sued neither but is a bit annoying to see people saying things like “screw Gamevice for this”- Nintendo are usually the first ones to fart out C&D’s (or flat out sue) individuals or small companies over far more trivial things than this and whenever that happens those same people criticising Gamevice right now are normally the first in line to start defending Nintendo for it (“its their legal right”, “they've got to protect their IP’s”, etc) . Don't get me wrong I also hope Nintendo wins this (which they most likely will) but lets not forget that despite creating some amazing games Nintendo are also certainly no angels in this regard.
