I started playing this and I was like "wow this is stupid..." now it's 3AM... and I bought all the DLC. O.o I love how you can manage the characters and grow armies to do your bidding yet you don't have to lift a finger It's pretty relaxing and very rewarding. Pirate king costume is worth the dollar!
I thought to myself "Anything less than a 5 out of 5 on this game and I'm not coming back"
Rating games shouldn't be compared to other games, only the time period. I guess that's your opinion blah blah blah but when I found this game in college in 2004 I couldn't believe they made a game for the NES that had such amazing controls and decent physics that had hilarious outcomes... I disagree with you! lol
THIS was the Phantasy Star game I grew up on. I absolutely loved it as a kid. It may not be the best but I'm getting it for nostalgia. There were parts in it that really stuck in my brain but they were so vague until now. Woohoo!
It would be a lot better if you didn't have rocket skates on your shoes that constantly propel you forward... I don't think this game is a 1/5 though. It's enjoyable to a certain demographic.
This game is not good as a VC download... but I have the NES cart and it's one of my favorite games to play. It can be frustrating but I never feel like it's the game's fault I'm dying. The controls are very nuanced and it's satisfying once you actually get past a level and move on to the next. You feel like you've actually accomplished something. The only thing I wish is that they would have added some sort of game save. Doing the first level over and over is very frustrating.
back when I first got my sega CD, I wanted this QTE power rangers game lol and my dad came home with phantasy star 2 which had a $99 price tag on it. I couldn't believe he just picked it up for me without me even knowing the game existed. I was so grateful.... I loved this game and I'm goin on mah wii to download it right now! YAY!
Wow I'm really starting to hate whoever is in charge of releasing VC games. if they were intelligent they would have releases smash bros to pump us up for next month's release... but they're not.
Mario: Okay, get ready! Luigi: I mean honestly, who throws a pumpkin? Mario: Did you even play our 2nd game? We throw tons of odd little vegetables with faces plucked from the nurturing ground that envelopes their delicious goodness and- Luigi: The eagle eats you! And no one ever uses me for that one. I jump too high and I'm just too hard to control. I'm not a fan. Mario: Did you ever call Birdo back? How's he.... she, doing? Luigi: I don't wanna talk about it...
I accidentally bought cool borders from the PSN store cuz I thought it was this game! lol... I feel so ashamed. Almost the equal amount of shame Nintendo should feel for slacking on these VC releases.
I never played the original. I hope they release this some time in February before the full game comes out because I'd pick it up just to get back into the series. If they release it AFTER it comes out it's kind of a dumb move... why would I want to waste my time on the old version when I could be pwning it up with Pit
I loved wrecking crew!!! OH man. I don't know how it would hold up now but when I was a kid I absolutely loved this game. The way you use doors was so cool
I remember using the level editor! It's so great for an NES games
This looks like a lot of fun. I don't think I would pay for this but I think this looks like a great NES game.
The music is really great. The intro chime for each level reminds me of ninja bros and the in-game music is like wizards and warriors (I'm a total geek I know). I think if they every had a sale on the VC I'd pick this one up for sure. Looks fun!
it'd hard to say this is worth $5... but for an NES game the mechanics work really well. It's a joust clone but it's got some awesome 2 player action. Decent game but it just doesn't last very long...
Oh come on now. How can you give this anything less than 5? Even if it started out as another game, the concepts are just so original and unique that it belongs along side the others. The only thing I gotta say is that the bosses are a little easy, but skiing along on the ice hopping from one flying fork-dude to another is just fun. Plus it has whales!
This has to be said: If the virtual console is good for anything, it would be to bring the Japanese SMB2 to the states. We're all ready for it, and I personally don't want to play it as The Lost Levels... This is the whole point of online distribution, to allow unconventional marketing habits to be corrected. Who's with me?
I have the actual cart. I love it but it has its problems. Some of the custom weapons just arn't useful. It's incredibly easy to die and when you do die it's almost impossible to get back up to a decent amount of power. I love the level design and I enjoyed the NES one just as much. It's decent but not worth the money.
it may be worth it for uh... 100 points a game... maybe 50? You can buy the entire C64 collection for PS2 on like a $10 disk or something.... but honestly it's just going to be annoying filler between all the actual games I want to buy.
I just beat LoZ: Minish Cap for GBA so I was all gooey eyed for zelda games, I picked this one up just because of the extreme nostalgia even tho I had it in like 2 other forms. It's so much easier when you're playing these games as an adult and you READ the text lol.
This is a really amazing game... but it's hard to get over the whole 1-life thing. I don't want to have to cheat to see the rest of the amazing details put into this . oh, and it's obviously worth the points
i have the NES cart... i don't know if it'll be worth the download since there's no real reason accept the track editor. There's no tournaments or anything its just a couple different tracks and u can make your own. It's an amazing game but it gets old so fast for me for some reason. get it if u have a friend or family member to play with you! definitely
very accurate score! It's the one with the red mask (NOT WHITE) It's a shame that they wussed out and went for the less-gory version. I really wish they just had the roms locked with parental controls then we can download 18+ stuff if we wanted. Not a big deal. GREAT GAME!
I love big dumb companies... "wow that little building contains people with great ideas... let's consume it." xbox. I will never own one. Nintendo Wii only, unless I can sell a kidney then I'll get a PS3.
This is actually "Super Mario Brothers 2" Released only in japan on the famicom. They later released it in the US with spiffy new graphics on the Super Mario All-Stars cart for the SNES... but for some reason I like the original more.
oh god no... anyone but that! All the others were awesome arcade versions. I remember completely geeking out with my friend on TMNT2. We counted all 8 colors because we couldn't believe that there were only 8 I still loved that underwater level with the electricity spikes or w/e I don't even remember /sigh :F it was just so insanely hard and incredibly unforgiving. This isn't a game you can master, just shut your eyes and hope you make it to the end.

all my dreams...
Re: Bruiser and Scratch in the Case of the Puzzling Paw
"furry friends" lol oh no... furries.
Re: Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Little King
This game screeeeams "ONLINE PLAY" but I doubt it. Nintendo still doesn't have a good grasp on what that is or why it's so important...
I loved the original game. It's nothing like a final fantasy game. It was just a coop dungeon crawler.
