An absolute fair price. this guy spent 5 years of his life into the game, so it's totally acceptable to support him with these 12 bucks. anyhow, the 800 remaining points are nice for MM 10's dlc
a 9/10 is a very great score for Megaman 10! Although i still feel like it earned that extra point leading to a perfect 10. MM10 is not just MM9 with a few add ons, it's MM9 with a truckload of add-ons. most of the stuff avialable as DLC in MM9, like protoman or a hard mode, are in here already. Capcom now even throws in a 3rd character (who will please your requests, Kirk) and 3 extra stages. basically you seem to get way more value for your money with MM10
when i read EJW2, i shouted "YES!" and clapped my hand over my head. Loved the first game, second one's also one hell of a zany platformer (although i never beat the major muckus stage )
The music killed this game for me. Compared to the stellar soundtrack of the original, Yoshi's Island DS's music was dull, not engaging and overall just boring. I actually turned the audio off while playing this game. It broke my heart because the original was the first game i ever played...
heh, people exaggerate with the hate imo, i mean any zelda game except the CDi ones are good or at least better than quite a number of different games out there. People also tend to dislike stuff that doesn't follow the straight concept of their prequels, examples are Zelda II for being a sidescroller instead of an adventure game with an isometric perspective, Wind Waker for having the Cel-shading look, Phantom hourglass for continuing the cel shaded look and the entire wind waker stuff in particular. other game series like mario had the same thing, calling the Doki Doki panic controversy. I say just enjoy the game when you like it and avoid it when not. Different tastes shape the world
This truly one of the best Zelda games i have ever experienced and it's also superior to Ocarina in my opinion. As many people said already the game just has tons of personality, a clever story, well thought out characters and of course the undeniable Zelda feel. The graphics improved heavily from OoT and even Link got some "upgrades" like the spinning in the air while he jumps. The story is eerie and dark, thanks to the apocalyptic moon, which never left your head. Hell, it was at the sky the whole time. you literally could stare death right into the face. Tons of sidequests and very clever dungeons, perhaps my favorits in the entire series, This my fellow retro fans, is one of the greatest games of all time and an unforgettable classic.
"Because there's no depth, mostly. It's very fun, but very simple."
I am sorry Drake, but i have to contradict. As Cally already pointed out, there is lots of depth in the game, gameplay-wise. but one mustn't forget the depth that can be found in the story and characters. I mean Mario Bros. 3 has a story that is almost as simple as the one found in MM2. You play a guy in both games that's supposed to stop an evil guy, and, if you ask me, the way megaman implements the story is superior in comparison with Mario 3. The characters itself shine a lot, meaning they show a lot of personality by their respective looks and mimics. You might see that the wave of fanboy-pledges for a 10/10 rating won't stop, and honestly spoken by a non-fanboy, this game is a 10/10 due to all the points mentioned already.
If big N would only bring the arcade version of this onto the virtual console. that one'd be an instant buy for multiple reasons: brighter colour, one level more, etc. Still the nes port is great and might not be that much of a game by technical standarts, but i say that it holds a special place in any nintendo gamer's heart
wait, Megaman 2 and 3 not getting a 10/10 rating? i guess you have your reasons, and a 9/10 is still very good. But somehow i feel like it is still a bit underrated by you. Anyways, it's an awesome game.
I always start with needle man. you get an E-Tank in his stage and once you discover how to beat him, the entire fight feels like a harder battle against metalman from megaman II. After you beat needleman, you get the rush jet, which is pretty helpful in as good as each stage. so yeah, needle man, folks
@ maka Megaman 3 is a tad harder than MM2 imo, which comes from the new "Doc Robot Stages" that follow up once you beat all 8 robo masters. the level design of those is wicked evil in some places and the bosses from Megaman 2 make an appearance as well, although you do not get their weapons.
please note that the comment this message refers to has been removed
It isn't the best game on the N64, but it isn't that bad. still the price of 1000 points is too expensive IMO, but i didn't go all like :"OMGWTFITSUCKSKAITHXBAI" I believe that this here isn't a plattform for behavior like that and your argumentation, when there is any, is pointless and uninformative.
The graphics of this game are excellent, the sound is good, but each track seems to be a varification of the main theme. replay value is given by the melons i cannot denie that. Yoshi's story is one of those 50/50 factors, you either like or dislike it. I dislike it, because it feels like a giant let down compared to the SNES version. others like it because it looks astonishing in terms of graphics and it features yoshi, plus the gameplay isn't bad at all.
well, i cannot let this comment remain unanswered from my side. In the beginning of my post, i stated, that Yoshi's story was a nice "attempt" of Nintendo, meaning that the idea of another Yoshi-platformer was good. so, let's get back to the three points i stated before: a) way too short. well, apparently you do not agree with me but hey, it's all about personal opinions, ya know? I mean yea, yoshi's story did have 16 levels, hell that's even one more than Mario 64 has, but equals quantity quality? I mean you even admitted it by your self: "Easy maybe", those were the words you have spoken. and yes, those levels arn't short...but you have to take into consideration, that yoshi's story isn't your every day platformer. the goal is not to reach a goal, but to collect 30 fruit on a looping 2-D level. eat the first 30 fruit you see and your done, very quickly, very easy. I mean you can go and try to find all melons on your way to score more, but...16 levels of fruit seeking is a tad to boring for me. And this leads us to b) not the kind of platformer people wanted to see. As i already mentioned, you didn't have to reach the goal of a certain level, but to eat fruit. Most of yoshi's moves from yoshi's island remained, the eating, the groundpounding, the egg-throwing, the fluttering and so on and it would all have been perfectly only if yoshi's story would have been more like it's predecessor, but unfortunately, fans weren't to see such a game again. All it resembles were cute little dinosaurs walking around in a gorgous world eating fruit. (And yea, i did love that game back then as kid, as it is intended to), And those unfortunately lead to only 16 levels. yoshi's island had 6 worlds with 8 levels each + 8 bonus levels making it 56 levels which were all nice and fun. That's what a plattformer is supposed to be IMO. c) not in 3-D like most of the N64 games. You cannot denie, that people were impressed by new 3-dimensional games like Mario 64, Zelda OoT and so on. I mean, 3D was brand new, it was a hit, gamers were all like "OMG IT'S 3D!!!", and then there comes a game like yoshi's story, literally telling you:" heh, we've got awesome graphics, but gameplay still is the same, buhahahahah, we're just technically improved, but messed up the actual gameplay"
so yea, that's my opinion and yes, i should have stated it more precisely, i apologize for that, have a nice day
i like this game. seriosuly, i like it. may be nostalgia, but i prefer this one instead of F-Zero X. Mario kart has it all. a good variety of tracks, powerups, difficulty settings and a PERFECT multiplayer mode, which makes this game really shine! fun alone and together with your friends, mario kart is a must have for racer fans. or you wait for Mario kart wii to be released 5/5
this is by far one of the best races i have ever played...in 1P mode. In comparison with this one, the 2P mode seems to be weak and gives it an unfinished touch to it. 1P mode = racing against 29 other racer and you can select the difficulty. 2? mode = racing agains 3 other racer without a difficultysetting at all. If you like fast paced racer, this is worth the download, but if you look for a good multiplayer-racing game you will have to stick with mario kart 64 (heheh, i have both )
Awesome graphics, an even more awesome soundtrack, perfekt gameplay, loads of Bonus games or hidden passages, animal-buddys which add something new to the mix, nice level settings, Pirate-krokodils... COME ON! THIS IS LEGENDARY! 5/5!
The game was a nice attempt of Nintendo, but was a) way too short b) bot the kind of plattformer the people wanted to see and c) not in 3-D like most of the N64 games.
The overall game is nice and the gameplay is good as well, but overall yoshi's story is a ginourmos let down. 2/5 Stars
Great game. A couple of month ago, i didn't even know the castlevania series. thatnks to the Virtual console, i know posess 3 of those creepy games. A good adventure with a way too straight forwards gameplay is defnetly worth the download. 4 stars from me
Kirby sucks but in a good way. The puffy pink marshmallow defenetly is worth a download and it is hard to find better value for your 500 points. awesome and perfect game earns a 5/5
A nice adventure/plattformer with an awesome soundtrack is worth 500 points, no doubt about this. but it is so friggin' HARRRRRD! that's why i give it 3 out of 5 points
a great puzzle game for the NES which reminds me on Tetris and Dr Mario. The musik is entertaining, the grafics look nice and the gameplay is as smooth as it is supposed to be. the icing on the cake is defenetly the 2P mode and the autosaving which allowed players to continue from levels where they failed before. It's wrong in my opinion to to refer the rating of this game to the superior SNES title. It's a great puzzle game, yet not so great like Dr mario i am eagerly awaiting
Manicfatty is right. this defenetly defines the word "Classic". Unfortunately it is not the Arcade version (which is, thank god, playable on DK64), but it is THE Nintendo game, it is THE base for 2 of the most poplular Video Game Characters the world shall ever see and the hunt for the high score and the gameplay which keeps the player on it's toes earn 4 stars from me for this game
Many people love it, many people hate it. I Didn't even know this game untill the last couple pf month. I saw the AVGN review first, a more positive one later, got curious, downloaded it and never regretted it ever since. 4 Stars from me.
