Re: Nintendo Games Are About To Get Cheaper In Russia, Customers Also Offered Extended Warranties

@GC-161 Just a marketing scheme and a nice present for the Russian players. Seeing how people stopped harassing everything Nintendo does at every possible occasion like they did, Nintendo Russia has gifted them extended warranty. They used to give out actual cash until June 2019 mind you, but they stopped when some vocal "fans" have been harassing everyone at Nintendo Russia for reasons unrelated to the early 2019 controversy. Now, no Switch owner pays any attention to the eShop prices, which are managed entirely by NoE in Germany and Yasha can't do anything about it. The eShop prices are stupid expensive for an equally stupid reason - the huge brain NoE just slapped the required 20% tax for digital goods imposed by Russia in December 2016 onto the MSRP of physical versions, which already has a regular 20% for regular goods. As such they simply get more profit than they need to. But the retailers only like it as it brings more people into the stores, and Nintendo Russia understands it well - that's why they're always advertising their games there. And Nintendo only gets more and more popular with each year as it penetrates the Russian market further.

@Prizm Why would they fire him? There was a ton of good stuff he did for Russian players. Quite a lot of information about "Yasha the tyrant" was fake as well - there are some people in the Russian Nintendo fandom that are so hungry for drama that they would often even make up stuff just to demonize all of Nintendo Russia. These people are ungrateful. Despite all the PR campaigns, like the Nintendo Guardians program and the Level Up Days, as well as the regional pricing for all Nintendo games (each €60 Nintendo game costs €53 incl. VAT in Russia), all Yasha gets is negativity and filth from the players. Not many people understand that, and you sure don't.

Re: Russian Nintendo CEO Caught Ranting On Official Live Stream As Management Breaks Down

@Don It was the Wii. Only 100k were sold because there weren't any actual Nintendo of Russia there. But there were some ads on the federal television. It was only the 3DS when they started an actual invasion of the russian market, but strangely, the only ads I remember being shown on major TV channels in 2011 were Zelda OoT 3D featuring Robbie and Zelda Williams. Almost no big games stores were selling 3DS games that were released from 2013 through 2016.

The second wave of marketing started when the Switch came around and we could see actual advertising almost everywhere besides TV (with 2x2 channel being an exception as always, that was and still is the only place where they showed 3DS, Wii U and Switch ads). Obviously the sales are far, far better than they used to be during the era of Wiis.

And it seems that he might not actually be fired because he had a lot of really good policies as well that helped Nintendo in the long run. I want to believe that that video and all the rumours from anonymous NRU employees about this kind of behaviour being an ordinary thing for NRU staff were all fake, I really do.

@Heavyarms55 You know what they say, don't judge a book by its cover. Especially when that cover is being read by the press. Just because some American news network like CNN or NBC said that "Ruskies are bad and corrupted because reasons, don't go there" doesn't mean that all 140 million people are some grumpy commies who don't know what fun is. We don't do that for some reason, and neither should you.
