Re: EA Has Acquired The Super Mega Baseball Developer Metalhead Software

JonnyTenebrous

As a game dev, I share my sincerest condolences with the team members at Metalhead. While the boss(es) will be overjoyed with a fat wad of cash and thoughts of early retirement... giving speeches to the team about how this acquisition is "to the benefit of all"... the developers will know that this marks the beginning of the end, and that now is the time they must begin sprucing up their portfolios for re-entry to the jobs market. Metalhead was a great studio.

Kick the Tires and Light the Fires!!! XD But srsly, this is a surprise find for me and sounds right up my street! My favourite flight sim back in the day was "A-10 Attack!" - anybody else play that? Then later I even joined a virtual online flight wing for Falcon 4.0 - I still remember printing the 600 page manual! Oh boy, between this and Korg Gadget today, then DK Tropical Freeze... might be an expensive couple of weeks.

Hype!!! As a fanatic of both music gadgets and my Switch, this just looks like insane creative fun to me! I've also got "serious" audio/recording equipment in my little home studio so I really, really hope they've provided some way to export the audio and MIDI data from this so if we create anything cool, users could port it over to Ableton Live, etc. and take it further. Was not expecting this, and now I can't wait!

edit: omg, omg what if.... what if this allows you to host a MIDI controller keyboard connected to your Switch with an OTG USB cable!? Fingers crossed - that would be amazing!

Re: Power Spikes II Is Serving Up Futuristic Volleyball On Switch Next Week

I played the crap out "Super Spike V'Ball" on NES as kid. I think it actually came as a pack-in game with our NES system that included an NES "Four Tap" (4 player control expansion)... I had three younger siblings (and of course the neighborhood kids) so the competition got pretty fierce. I have to say, Super Spike looks way the heck better than this game, despite being older... at least you could move all around the court in pseudo 3d/isometric view.

Re: The Flame in the Flood Has "Smashed" Its Launch Targets on the Switch eShop

Wow, they are publishing "Human Fall Flat" on the Switch as well? I picked that up on Steam in a Humble Bundle about a month ago and it was definitely an unexpected gem for me - I found it both relaxing and compulsively entertaining (I binged it in about 3 long sessons). I'm not normally one for motion controls, but this game is a perfect fit for the JoyCons (which always stay parked in my Switch) and I'll double-dip to replay this if they get a good motion control scheme implemented.

Re: Random: Here's The 'Switch Visor' - For The Lazy Players

Hey guys/gals - there's an easier, cheaper way to accomplish this same task - and you don't even have to strap it to your face! Right, all you need is a gooseneck tablet mount - you can grab one on Amazon for about £12. Depending on the thickness of your mattress, you can either mount it to your bed frame or your headboard - no need to leave it in place permanently, you can setup/remove it in about 10 seconds. I bought this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/EasyAcc-Gooseneck-Cellphone-Rotating-Reinforced/dp/B01J19TE84/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1507814912&sr=8-4&keywords=gooseneck+tablet+mount I use it with my tablet mostly, but it DOES fit the Switch, though only with the joycons removed and grasping it from the sides (which is secure and allows ventilation). You can sit up in bed in use it in front of you, lay down in bed and poise it above your face, and even rotate the screen to play in TATE mode for SHMUPs! Note, however, that it is a bit wobbly - mostly only noticeable before you've settled into position, though.

Re: Mayo Wins in Splatoon 2's Battle of the Condiments

JonnyTenebrous

I played on Euro (UK) Team Mayo to "Mayo King" rank and the battles were pretty intense - it felt like we all played hard for our wins and, in the games I played at least, I'm sure we won at least 70%. However, there were a number times I could tell Team Mayo was slightly short-handed because I'm level 15 (still pretty new) and was fairly-regularly getting teamed up with players in the Level 7 range, while our Team Ketchup opponents were consistently Levels 25 to 40 (I was playing late at night). Admittedly, we got stomped pretty hard in a few of those cases, but it felt very satisfying those times where we managed a win against the odds. Was great to have 24 Super Sea Snails - now I'm just hording them!

@Dang69 I'm American, but live in the UK. All I can say about the Mayo comparison is this: I personally like Mayo in the UK way better. I was a life-sworn anti-Mayo person in the US (apart from in homemade Ranch Dressing), but in the UK the flavour is just somehow way nicer and I use it all the time now: on sandwiches, "chips" ("Fries" to my fellow Yankees), even straight on salads. However, I've gotta admit that excellent food is not a British specialty as a very general statement, imo... food comes in distant second to moar drink!. Visit Italy if you want mind-blowing food.
