Re: Get A Closer Look At Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake In New Gameplay Trailer

HeroEightBit

I'm a bit conflicted about this game. I was really excited when it first was announced, but the exitement is a bit down since its been so long.

I also would perfer to have them release the first 2 games as well before I play this one. Especially, since we know they are working on them.

This probably will not be a day 1 buy, but maybe down the line.

Re: Nintendo Updates The URLs For Its European Website Domains

HeroEightBit

@Rambler HTTP and HTTPS is the same thing, one just has security added to it. When the client (Your PC, Phone, personal device) makes a request/call to the webserver (The website this instance). The server will return a SSL cert (the secure part). The client will check to make sure that is is valid and confirm it with the server. If everything looks correct the server will send you the data you are looking for(in this case the website). If there is only HTTP, you can still accept the response from the website, but your browser is really going to persuade you not to accept the information. Long story short, you do not need HTTPS for websites to work, they just keep you and you personal device a little safer

Re: Talking Point: Should 'Third' Pokémon Games Make A Comeback?

HeroEightBit

@EarthboundBenjy 100% agree with you. It was a cool gimmick back in the day. It encouraged people to go out and interact with other to collect them all. But with the rise of online and you can now trade with a click of a button, it is kinda pointless to have to versions. I say we have one version of the mainline and then we can continue the legends series.

Re: Reaction: Nintendo's Switch Emulator Fallout Is Shocking Only Because It Took This Long

HeroEightBit

@Tober "Who can compete with FREE?"
That is exactly my point. If there is no piracy, Nintendo can charge whatever they want to play their games. Nintendo knows that piracy is an option for consumers, and as long as there is at least one alternative option, they are forced to keep prices somewhat reasonable. The moment the option is gone, nothing is preventing them from selling their games for $100+.

"On the contrary, if less piracy leads to better sales, then this will help developer studios, especially the smaller ones."

I don't know how much that is true. It seems that there are two types of people that pirate (in my experience, as I have no evidence as well.) Those who have already bought the game, or those who were never going to buy the game to begin with.

We also don't know where the sales profits go. We don't know if they go to the studio, the publisher, the developers, the advertiser, etc. We would like the profits to go to the actual developers, but as we can see with all the tech layoffs as of late, I think there is good evidence that the profits go everywhere but the people who actually make the product (games).

If Nintendo does not like piracy, they should do something about it. And not just shut down anything that is a threat. Make me a better deal than piracy can. Make it easier to play older games. Give me more options in current games (Modding support). There are many options, but removing emulation seems to be the easy way out.

Re: Exclusive: SunnySide Teams Up With Gardening YouTuber To Make Their Farming Game More Realistic

HeroEightBit

I like farming sims, but I would like to see farming games more as an option then requirement. I really like Rune factory, where there is multiple activities to do including farming but not necessarily required. And I think that what many these kind of games are missing. People like Stardew not just for farming, but the community and "town building" aspect. If it was just farming, it would not be as popular as it is.

Re: Disney Dreamlight Valley Receives Update, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

HeroEightBit

I really don't understand the hate. If you want to buy the game and play, do it. If you don't want too, don't. My fience but the biggest package for $80, and she already put 30+ hours into and is smiling the whole time. I spent $60 for Zelda Breath of the wild (for my self) and she hated it. If I bought Zelda for her, that would be a waste of money. The point is know the value of what you are getting for who you are getting it for. Enjoy life, do not waste time in the hate.

Re: Video: YouTuber's Switch OLED Screen Still Standing After 7,000 Hours

HeroEightBit

@WallyWest I disagree, testing the durability of a product is not a waste. If anything, it can be real helpful on a large scale. If the screened burned in after a week. People would need to be buying switches every week. That would be much more harmful, especially on a large scale. Thats obviously an exaggeration, but test from a third party is usually much more credible and can help people make decisions on many things.

Re: Video: Masahiro Sakurai Breaks Down 'Risk And Reward' In Games

HeroEightBit

Also, I think its funny that he talks about risk and rewards. The creator of Kirby, a game known for it being a easy introduction game for beginners has very little risks. Many of the modern Kirby games do not really even have consequences. This also applies to animal crossing, most of Stardew Valley and I will even claim Mario Kart. Some of the most popular games have very little risks. I think it more important to have a general idea or a goal of what you want from your game, then you can begin add "risks" if they are necessary .

Re: Video: Masahiro Sakurai Breaks Down 'Risk And Reward' In Games

HeroEightBit

@Olliemar28 You are not entirely wrong, but I do think this response sounds a bit defensive. I personally think that we do not need an article for every video or at least set up like this.

I think it would be better to try to create a discussion on the topic or give us you your views and opinions. Do you agree with Sakurai? Do you not? and how come. You could also try to relate these ideas to other videos or give examples in other games to help relate the topic. I do not think the article topic itself is the issue, just how and why the information is relayed.

I think it would be better to try to take the criticism (even though most of the time it is negative) and use it to improve your articles for next time. That way people are happier with you next article and you can grow as a journalist.

Re: Feast Your Eyes On Disney Speedstorm's Newest Course

HeroEightBit

@Abeedo I disagree but I do think I know where you are coming from. I think the stage is very beautiful and will be a lot of fun for huge Disney fans. I think the problem lies with the mechanics of the racing itself. It looks very stiff, which I think makes it looks a little on the cheaper side. They need to add more motion (or the feeling of it. ) I think there could be a lot of potential for this game, but I know greed will beat out any creativity and fun.

Re: Video: A Look Back On The Switch's First Year Of Life

HeroEightBit

@roboshort Yeah, I guess I'm just tired of the underpowered Nintendo console. I notice that I play fewer and fewer Nintendo games and only have it to play first-party titles when it used to be my go-to. I have been a Nintendo fan for a long time (Since SNES days), but it may just be time to face facts and give it up (I don't want to!). Hopefully my initial comment doesn't seem to negative!

I should have also mentioned that I work from Home and don't really leave and do not see that benefit that it offered many years ago. I realize that I am no longer there target audience, but that makes me sad

Re: Video: A Look Back On The Switch's First Year Of Life

HeroEightBit

I'm a bit split with the Switch. I love all the exclusives, but we really need a new console at this rate. It needs more power. There are many games that I pass up because the Switch ver. is lacking. I don't need SUPER ULTRA REALISTIC GRAPHICS!!! or anything like that, but we need to stop pretending that this is a console and treat it more like a tablet. I think I would much more enjoyable if it was treated like a tablet and created games around that concept.
