Gameloft's charming, heartwarming life sim Disney Dreamlight Valley has captured more than 'One Little Spark' of imagination in many. And now the game has received a pretty large update which aims to smooth out the experience and fix a number of little niggles and issues that players have been experiencing.
We've reported on a few fixes that Gameloft has been making over the past few weeks, but this patch aims to catch a few more, alongside balance changes and loot tables.
Here are the full patch notes from the official website:

Earlier today, Gameloft also revealed that Disney Dreamlight Valley has welcomed over 1 million residents to the lovely little Disney world. And we're sure Gameloft will work on sprucing up the game so it's much, much more than the bare necessities. And it already is!
Last week, Disney revealed that Woody and Buzz from Toy Story would be coming to the Valley! You can check out all of Disney's announcements from the Disney and Marvel Showcase below:

Do. Not. Buy. This.
I. Am. Liking. This. Game.
I’ll wait a year before I try.
Nice timing. Bought it today. 😊
I've been playing it on Gamepass and enjoying it. Waiting for the free versions to release so I can move my cloud save over to switch for portable play.
A number of things it has that I wish would be implemented in Animal Crossing but alas, I doubt that'll happen.
Got all the valley upgrades and nearly done all the quests, just waiting on getting Ariel and Ursula to Lvl10 (currently lvl 8). It's kind of annoying that you can't make progress with them as quickly as everyone else as they can't assist in activities. Should unlock Prince Eric then.
Absolutely love this game, despite the crashes on PS4. I'm constantly saving every few minutes in fear of walking into a building and then loosing progress.
It's well worth the £25 if you're a Disney fan.
@thenikdavies "It's well worth the £25 if you're a Disney fan."
It's going to be a Free to play game next year. With very clear money grabbing schemes.
This game is not worth £0,01
Heck even if they would give me €100 I wouldn't want to play this trash.
And as a footnote: I played the GamePass version for a few hours.
From the subtitle, I thought they have added characters from Nightmare Before Christmas
@sanderev This is on point.
Imagine what this sort of game could be if it was made proper.
The monetisation for this game is based on cosmetics only. If you play ever day, you can probably get by with only paying for enough moonstones to unlock the Premium Star Path once, as you can earn the spent stones back. That's less than a full price game would cost.
Or you could avoid Premium and play entirely for free, just missing out on a few costumes, bits of furniture and pets.
The game is decent, and doesn't deserve to be written off for it's planned monetisation policy.
I've been watching my son play this on Game Pass. It's buggy, but other than that it's a surprisingly good game. And I'm not a Disney fan. I just hope they're not going to ruin it with pay-to-win mechanics.
The juxtaposition of the first two comments made me chuckle.
This and the Splatoon 3 update made my night! They seem to be trying. Now I'll plan on giving this game a go. It still might not be so great on Switch but at least it's more playable.
Haven’t gotten this yet but definitely will before it is out of early access. Big Disney fan so it’s worth it for me to get a Founder’s pack plus my birthday is next month so this will be a present to myself.
@sanderev "Heck even if they would give me €100 I wouldn't want to play this trash.
And as a footnote: I played the GamePass version for a few hours."
What?
@dubczdon I've played it to confirm it was trash. Which it is.
Like I said, it's currently not free-to-play. The "pay me € 100" line was meant for the free to play version of the game. The not worth 0,01 portion is for any version of the game. Because of the obvious future money grabs that are in the game. (which I discovered by playing it for a few hours)
My wife loves it (as an animal Crossing Fan), playing on the Xbox Series X, though.
they need to smooth out the frame rate
@sanderev
Can you explain the “future money grabs” in the game beyond simple cosmetics? Because that’s all they’re going to implement.
By the way, been playing the game and I love it. Honestly like the progression and everything better than Animal Crossing.
@Phostachio I said it in a different news article last week. The "energy" system is going to used for this game (it's already in it) now you can return to your house for a quick refill. But I am sure that is going to be paid.
Honestly it's how almost all "free to play" mobile / gameloft games work.
Played it on Game Pass as well. Kinda enjoyed it actually.
@sanderev
You’re assuming that’s going to be the same for this game, but Gameloft has said that there will be no time skipper or gameplay monetized in the future. Purely cosmetics and character expansions, which IMO is perfectly reasonable. Also, that’d defeat the point of eating cooked meals to get more energy.
@sanderev that's just an assumption, though. Granted, you are basing it on previous models used by the same company, but changing how energy works would break the game as Phostacio says.
I think you might be wrong here, or at least I hope you are. I think it's a bit unfair to criticise a game for something that you think rather than know will happen.
I can't put this game down. It's so much easier to decorate in this game than Animal Crossing and all characters have several side-quests too. Highly recommended if you like Animal Crossing!!
@Zimon
I love being able to zoom out and see most of the map and just drag and drop everything around. Pretty much everything you do in this game feels so much smoother than Animal Crossing. Hopefully Nintendo takes notes from this for the next game.
By the way, I always defended the breakable tools in New Horizons, but after playing Dreamlight I cannot for the life of me see why. That was so annoying!
@Phostachio I didn't mind the breakable tools honestly but omg the multicrafting and hold button to continously dig/harvest is SO GOOD in this!
The two things I miss most is real-time seasons and swimming/diving.
It's early access so it's buggy but as a Disney fan and as an animal crossing fan I'm enjoying the game. It makese sad knowing it's going to have a full release as a free to play when it's done because I feel they could put so much more into it if they made it like a triple a game rather than the f2p format. I wish they voice all the characters idk if they will or not but we will see what the future brings.

@PrinsPaddestoel
How do you pay to win a single player life sim game?
Still had a couple of crashes after the update but nowhere near enough as before. Even in its current state it has more going for it than Animal Crossing, and I loved Animal Crossing. Every aspect is better - fishing, farming, questing, customising, cooking
This game will only be released (for free) in 2023 and now it already looks like a very fun game and superior to others that will be paid at full price like Haverstella.
(The Harvestella Demo made me tired, doing everything running and dying all the time)
@Bucket Of course nobody can now what will actually happen.
But I've placed my assumption based on what is actually the norm for these kinds of games. And yes energy sucks. And it does so in most of these games. Also if they aren't going to make it paid, why would they have added it in the first place? As it currently is, it doesn't really slow you down.
Also I haven't seen a free to play game with an energy consumption mechanic where the energy was not part of the micro transactions.
@Phostachio Cooking costs energy though. So eating cooked meals will also replenish energy (but they might nerf that to only a little) and over time it will also replenish like 1 point every 3 minutes.
And them saying that it will be "only cosmetics" well, I've heard that also a lot more. But in the end, that is never the case. (When there is energy in the game).
@steventonysmith Yes, exploit some people with will easily depart with their money by offering some overpriced «exclusive» items.
Early access from a small developer on Steam is one thing, also used to raise capital AND test the game, another is for a company swimming in microtransaction cash exploiting consumers.
Your post history is pretty crude and trolly. I’m surprised you don’t get moderated more often.
@ketrac
Dreamlight Valley doesn't have microtransactions yet, you pay one fee ($29.99) get some in game things for it and get to play a game months early. Or if you want to try it at no additional cost have a PC/Xbox it's on Game Pass.
Thanks for checking out my previous posts
@sanderev I see your point, especially with Gameloft's history, but I'm choosing to judge the game on its current state rather than what they might do. That might prove naive, but I'm enjoying the experience as it currently stands.
Energy systems have always been part of the Harvest Moon games, and I thought Stardew Valley had one, too. The system isn't always gated by microtransactions.
@Bucket
As it stands I am confused why they have a stamina system at all. Since you can go into your house for half a second and have full stamina
@steventonysmith I think it's because other life sims do, so it's become a staple of the genre. But maybe it's supposed to break up how you perform tasks, so you don't get people grinding away at the same task continuously for hours.
I assume the breakable tools in Animal Crossing serve the same purpose, but that's just a guess.
@sanderev Your predictions are on point.
@Bucket
What I'm saying is if you are going to have a Stamina system make it matter as far as the only way to recover is to wait a set amount of time, eat something or sleep. In this game you can literally enter your house for half a second and you have a full bar. So it does nothing except to mildly inconvenience you.
@steventonysmith yeah, I agree. It seems a bit pointless in the way it's implemented.
You think by now learning Cloud stinks and having no Physical would not sell well but they keep doing dumb things over and over.
I really don't understand the hate. If you want to buy the game and play, do it. If you don't want too, don't. My fience but the biggest package for $80, and she already put 30+ hours into and is smiling the whole time. I spent $60 for Zelda Breath of the wild (for my self) and she hated it. If I bought Zelda for her, that would be a waste of money. The point is know the value of what you are getting for who you are getting it for. Enjoy life, do not waste time in the hate.

@Zimon As a girl I LOVE all the gowns, I never realized how girls never get anything pretty ever until I played this. Even playing a boy character he can look so handsome. I hope they add in the ability to interact with more items! It'll make collecting feel more worth it rather than having a lifeless object collection like a hoarder, lol.
