@SteamEngenius People complaining about their jobs is as old as jobs themselves. There has literally never been a time or place in human history where that wasnt a thing. It's a "Hah, relatable" constant brought up in everything from ancient Chinese anecdotes to the Canterbury Tales. And why would that be the fake idealized past you wax nostalgic about, anyway? "People just letting themselves be mistreated by their bosses, and never hoping for things to improve...why can't we go back to those halcyon days?"
I liked the Gougi system too, and am sorry to see it thrown out altogether. It definitely could have used some tweaking...it sometimes felt a little oppressive...but it also added a layer of strategy and variety that gave it a real identity. Without it, there's very little to set it apart from other, more conventional fighting games that arguably have more to offer on that flatter playing field.
@SmaggTheSmug Aw, leave ol' Kojima off that list. Death Stranding was definitely an acquired taste, and I don't blame anyone for not clicking with it, but at least it very much sought to do something new and hade a genuine (and very weird) vision as opposed to just making worse versions of past triumphs like the others. And it was a critical and financial success, too.
But yeah, Balan and Mighty No. 9 are really sad, unfortunate blemishes on formerly legendary creators that are so bad they make you wonder, which was the real fluke, the masterpiece or the disaster?
While it's definitely a "oh, COME ON" situation how they're acting either way...those aren't Pokémon cards they're even grabbing in that video. Which makes the framing of the tweet misleading, as it's maybe symbolic of how people are acting over Pokémon cards, but not an actual example of it.
The biggest mystery is why they'd do this when they know full well it will instantly become sold out everywhere even if they weren't pushing it so hard. This is just annoying customers, giving bad PR, and devaluing previous amiibo (showing that even relevant ones won't be supported going forward kinda hurts one of the appeals of the brand long-term) when they don't need to be doing any of that to sell this.
I don't understand why so many people are actively disappointed that they're getting games they HAVEN'T already played. Playing games from older consoles can be more about discovering gems you missed rather than just reliving old favorites you already know front and backwards.

(Also, these are all fun, charming games)
