That is a KILLER price for a New 3DS, with an AMAZING game, and that NES sprite faceplate looks amazing. I never thought I'd get envious after my Pokemon edition, but dang. Anyone remotely interested in the 3DS should HOP ON DAT.
I just played through it on my 3DS last year along with the other Prime games... I have to disagree. I think the campaign is still surprisingly good, and the environments are impressive. I'd actually recommend playing it on a DS XL of any variety, you can adjust the sensitivity to actually find a pretty sweet spot of controls. I'd ding it hard for the lack of its fine multiplayer, but I'd definitely give this game a 7.5-8 out of 10. If you liked Metroid Prime 1 or 2, this game is top. Really.
That Varia Suit Samus model is awesome. Like super amazing awesome. I wish I had that kind of money. I've been getting into game collecting recently, and I just finished my collection of every Metroid game ever released... Every game in that franchise put together today barely costs more than that figurine :/
As a side, I wish it were the Prime 1 Varia Suit with the slightly larger shoulders.
Edit: my autocorrect changed "Samus" to "Samsung". The internet is going to end us all.
Lemme tell you, @buildz, if this is anything like Windjammers it is not mindless party fun... It is cutthroat, frenetic action, not unlike Mario Kart when everyone knows how to play. I hope this lives up to the name.
@Dakt as someone who's played both, this is super false. The multiplayer was good, like really good, and SHOULD be in this release-- but the campaign is really good too. A proper short little Nervous Prime campaign with some damn cool environments. It's a gimped release without multiplayer, but the campaign is NOT worthless, it's pretty good.
Okay, so the dude's comments went too far; the Wii U could probably handle Afterbirth.
HOWEVER,
He did not say anything in a particularly rude fashion, and he is entitled to his opinion. I'm pretty disappointed in this community, lambasting someone just for stating something... Also, despite what everyone seems to think, just because BoI is Sprite based does NOT mean it could run on a "PSP" or "Dreamcast". BoI is an incredibly complex game with a LOT going on in the background-- you can have over 100 individual sprites on screen easily, EACH WITH THEIR OWN BEHAVIORAL PROGRAMMING. The game was written out of Flash because it was too complex for Flash as a language to handle. It hasn't been Flash-based since the original, and I openly laugh at anyone who's commented here saying "I'm a burgeoning developer, this game would be easy". It wouldn't.
This is also an incredibly highly reviewed game with a satisfied fan base. It's the gold standard for roguelikes. People claiming its bad are fighting against statistics.
Also, you won't play it based on religious content? Seriously? But you're fine with Xenoblades, or Castlevania, or Bayonetta, which are all chock-full of religious content?
I'm just shocked to see a Nintendo-based community turn viscious this quickly.
Tl;Dr: it could probably run on Wii U, probably couldn't on New 3DS (too much processing), BUT REGARDLESS people need to stop being mean to feel good about themselves.
That's a pretty major bummer. There were a few classics I was still waiting on, namely Metal Gear: Ghost Babel. Nintendo has made a fair deal of money off of me using the VC, and I'd spend more; I feel this is a wasted opportunity. Sad. It's like Sony and the PS Vita re: PS1 and PSP games... You have this massive backlog, and a working emulator. Why not release your whole backlog, at least the one's that wouldn't be awful to (re) secure the rights for?
I am deeply disappointed by this. Metroid Prime: Hunters was amazing; this looks like that, but worse in every way. Like every way. Deeply disappointed.

Re: Nintendo Has "Moved On" From Game Boy Games on the 3DS Virtual Console
@Megas75 there is a deep sadness in my heart. I've been googling "Ghost Babel VC" every couple of weeks for 3 years now
