I don't mind delayed, as long as it doesn't turn into Duke Nukem Forever.
Unlike MN9, Bloodstained's demo showed right off the bat that they are on the right track so I still have some faith in Iga. This may change if he screws up badly, but for now, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.
@Aerona HD Remix was a poorly balanced mess. From what I hear, Capcom went back to the drawing board to NOT throw everything out this time. If nothing else, this might end up being the final, definitive SSF2T since the community outright rejected HDR.
@cleveland124 Right, if you're not using scanlines. After all, NES is 240p only. SNES and newer have higher resolution modes where it won't be an even match but at 4K the distortions are minimally visible.
@NEStalgia Scarcely known in it's own time? Completely false. It was all over Nintendo Power and it was one of the major 3rd party games of its' year. Sunsoft may not have been quite as much a fixture as Capcom and Konami but it was quite close-- AND Blaster Master was their most famous work on the NES by far.
This feels like a waste. We're already hitting the point where older cartridges are at the end of their lifespan. The manufacturing process for the chips determines the lifespan, but 30-40 years is really about all you can expect at the very best.
Emulation, if done properly, can be 100% accurate-- there are about three or four that get extremely close right now-- but the underlying OS is still a problem point for lag. Both Android and Windows are not suitable for avoiding latency.
As for upscaling, 720p is the perfect resolution for NES as 3x scaling will perfectly fit the game with no distortion (240p x3) whereas 1080p isn't going to be a perfect match. Of course, once we get up to 4K and higher, that's not going to matter as much as imperfections will get small enough to be virtually unnoticeable.
@ThanosReXXX It does. One of the biggest problems with pushing for accuracy is that "good enough for me" means nobody cares about improvements and soon people come to see damaged (badly emulated) versions of games as "the way it really was"
But I'll leave it at this. To anyone else reading this, I'd honestly suggest nearly any other emulator over NeoRageX as even with hacks it's not even going to be 50% as accurate as a 10-year-old version of MAME (point in case: raster effects)
And yes, talking about this is legal-- if you'd purchased the Humble Bundle Neo-Geo package, the ZIPs inside the game packages are MAME-compatible Neo Geo roms. The only headache you'll hit is that the BIOS pack (neogeo.zip) is not up to date because it's missing a revision of the Universal BIOS..
That said, the HAMSTER emulations are actually quite good and I'm pleased to definitely recommend them. In fact, their recent focus on accuracy has been rather astounding to me. I'm hoping to see them bring their non-NG stuff over, too.
@ThanosReXXX You're welcome to continue to use what you like, assuming you can get it to even run stable on modern machines (it's prone to crashing post-Win 2000; it's that old) but please don't be suggesting it to others. You're making the MAME team's job that much harder.
@ThanosReXXX NO. Do NOT recommend NeoRageX. That's over 17 years old and completely surpassed by any modern Neo Geo emulator. You'd be MUCH better served by using MAME, which is a hell of a lot more accurate, or even Final Burn Alpha if you don't want to use MAME.

Re: Hyperkin's RetroN HD Runs NES Games In 720p, Arrives Later This Month
@GoneFishin Not yet, but it's coming. The lifespan on the manufacturing process used on the 2600 chips was rated at 40 years at most.
