@Metazoxan I wouldn't call Home support online support, a separate app that plucks Pokémon from your save file and stores them in the cloud more like. Clearly by online, everyone means battles and trading here, which really is a baffling omission since (as far as I'm aware) these use the same emulator as the NSO app. Not sure if online alone would have necessarily made the price point any easier to swallow though.
TIL the Player's Choice reprints of these games used to retail for $19,99 back in the day, and you even got a physical thing out if!
@Metazoxan I don't remember the specifics, but I'm fairly sure Home already tracks these kinds of things for certain games since you are already able to for example take Pokemon from SV to SwSh with ribbons which didn't exist yet
People always seem to forget that these games were the product of the original "Dexit", with a post-game made to fill gaps in the national Dex with Gen 2 Pokémon otherwise not available. Even back in the day, to complete the national Dex in any of the GBA games you'd need all 3 Hoenn games, LeafGreen (Only game in all of Gen 3 with Slowpoke), both GC games and all necessary consoles and link cables. It was a tall order back then and even more so now.
The lack of online trading/battling is probably my biggest issue besides the price, especially since these were bundled with the wireless adapter and had some exclusive mini-games too that required four people each with their own copy in the same room with you. No clue how well that would have worked out online, but I would have loved to find out! That and no connectivity with the GC games, but at least those games have a substantial story mode unlike the Stadium games which are a husk of a game without that key feature
So I got this out of morbid curiosity and turns out the game as it is, is currently unbeatable. Looking at a playthrough of the PSN version, there is a set of enemies on mission 10 (roughly halfway through the game) that need to be taken care of for a door to open. But on the Switch version, those enemies just never spawn in and you're locked out of the rest of the game. Tried it several times on both Switch 1 and 2 in case it was a compatibility issue, but nope, it's just broken. I also found it interesting that the Switch version had all the faces blurred and green blood, despite what the eShop trailer showed, some effort to avoid another takedown, maybe?
@Mz3player Oh, it has so much more! GTA San Andreas mission passed theme, Curb Your Enthusiasm theme, a We Are Number One/JoJo mashup, a couple of eurobeat tracks (Gas Gas Gas and Running in the 90s) and even some skateboard designs I recognize being real ones from being included in THPS. Heavy Meme Run vibes, wonder how long it'll take to be DMCA'd to oblivion. It went straight to sale at 90% off, so I bought it out of morbid curiosity, figured it wasn't going to stick around too long
Not a fan of how they animated the characters on the playfield, but I'll take it! Certainly looks better than V, though that didn't set the bar very high.

Re: Feature: 33 Games We're Surprised Still Aren't On Switch
I'd associate Konami's retro collections more with M2, wasn't TMNT the only one they did with Digital Eclipse?
Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's NES & Game Boy Library With Three More Classics
Glad to see Castlevnia Legends, since they decided that wasn't good enough to include on either of the Castlevania collections
Re: Skateboard Drifting with Maxwell Cat: The Game Simulator
Filled to the brim with copyrighted characters, designs and music of dubious legality. Get it while you can, I guess!
