Re: CNN Money: Nintendo Is "Tone Deaf" To Industry Trends And Has "Lost Touch With Reality"

DrDingus

Nintendo does not ignore trends. They examine them, consider them, and kindly toss most of them aside. That is what they have always done and they have been quite successful with their own unique ideas for a long time. Being the odd one out is what Nintendo does best. I find all this chatter about how they've lost touch and are DOOOMED to be irrelevant. Wii U will inevitably catch on. It's not the wildfire the Wii was but it has many years ahead of it. Everybody relax, shut up, and let Nintendo do their imperfect, ridiculous, weird, hilarious, entertaining, brilliant thing.

Re: Wii U GamePad Can Play Assassin's Creed 3 in 3D

DrDingus

As a rule I would say that 3D doesn't have much of a practical use, but as a feature the 3D effect truly adds an indescribable clarity to many gaming experiences. So I would say the best use for the 3D effect would be for fully 3D rendered games more so than 2D sidescrollers. That said, lets see a 3D Mario for WiiU amirite?

Re: Bridgestone Responds to Sony's "Kevin Butler" Lawsuit

DrDingus

If Sony hadn't filed a lawsuit, I wouldn't have even known about that Bridgestone ad, as I'm sure is the case with most people. They are just calling more attention to it. Saying "HEY LOOK, IT'S KEVIN BUTLER PROMOTING A WII! LETS SUE HIM!" is a lot more damaging than their actor appearing near a Wii. Also, the second Lambert knew there would be a Wii involved, he should have just walked away. If you're the guy who's known almost exclusively for your role as "that Playstation guy," shouldn't it click that it's a bad idea to be in anything promoting direct competition? This whole situation is just a series of poor decisions from everybody involved.

Re: Feature: Diamonds in the Rough - Dementium: The Ward

DrDingus

Imagine it. Dementium 3D: The only first person shooter on the 3DS is ridiculously creepy and deliciously atmospheric. How could Renegade Kid pass up such an awesome chance? Sure they could make a cool HD version on the Wii U, but part of what gives Dementium its charm is the fact that it's on a humble handheld, and yet still delivers a memorably spooky experience. It's one thing to join the ranks of Dead Space and ZombiU as great HD horror games, but wouldn't it be more interesting to be the ONLY horror game on the 3DS?

Re: Talking Point: Are Wii U Games Going To Be Too Expensive?

DrDingus

@Wilford111
I'm the same way. 3DS is my system of choice right now and the typical $40 price tag isn't much of a burden. I can't really see that price increasing until at least the next generation of handhelds... if there even is one. Since the line between handheld and console is getting ever blurrier, the NEXT next generation could feasibly be both in one. But I digress, $60 is a fair price for now, but I'm curious too see how much PS4 and XBox 720 games will be in comparison.

Re: Talking Point: 3DS XL - Why Now?

DrDingus

You're exactly right about wanting both a Wii U and a 3DS XL, but only being able to afford one of them. I've gone all out with my current 3DS, loading it with literally 50 games. Now I feel stunted due to the fact that I have a pile of money labelled "Wii U money" while my 3DS XL money pile is non-existent despite my overwhelming desire to upgrade. It's a tough choice.

Re: Bigger Nintendo 3DS Console Revealed

DrDingus

Whether or not I buy this depends entirely on whether or not you can transfer ALL of the data from your original 3DS to the 3DSXL. If not, then YOU WIN THIS ROUND, NINTENDO. I should have seen it coming.
