@Crono1973 Yes the first game had dungeons—and it’s precisely my point that despite different mechanics and structure, the three games I named were, for me at least, similarly evocative. Despite their many excellences, LttP and Oot were not (again for me at least) evocative in that way. I assumed this feeling had been a product of my young age, but BotW and SotC proved me wrong.
There’s a section in the late game of Skyward Sword wherein you must feed an enormous vat of pumpkin soup to a flying whale, and immediately after are tasked with tracking down the “tadtones” which are tadpole-shaped incarnations of musical notes.
@Mii_duck That game looked super blurry on my HD television when I replayed it 3 years. I imagine I see some improvement. I was watching it think “oh, there’s that mechanical pirate thing—I HATED that thing.”
Grinding is one way to re-balance a game. Unlike difficulty sliders, it makes players think they’ve earned it. Grinding out levels with a beer or two is a great way to relax before bed.

Re: Miyamoto Thinks Mario Movie's Critical Reception Contributed To The "Buzz"
Many in the U.S. have come to distrust critics as much as news media, experts, and government.

The games that have given me an experience closest to that of the original LoZ have been BotW and Shadow of the Colossus.
Re: Round Up: The Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Reviews Are In
A friend asked for my opinion of SS:

Re: Talking Point: When Was The Last Time A Game Cracked Your Top Five?
If I had answered 4 years ago: Legend of Zelda; Turtles in Time; Chrono Trigger; SF III: 3rd Strike; Persona 3
Breath of the Wild however, captivated me in a way that no game had done in something like a decade, so it might very well displace one of these.
Re: Talking Point: Is The New Switch Lite Blue, Or Purple?
And now I have that old Catherine Wheel song in my head: “Indigo is blue-ooooooo”
Re: Would You Rather: Eat A Pikachu, Or An Eevee?
Bravo! Loved the quandary re veganism when plants have faces.

2 of the developers on this one have a weekly podcast. Anyone else a Dev Game Club listener?

Re: After Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Another Konami Arcade Classic Is Getting A Spiritual Successor
Wish the new TMNT were in this style. Could have looked like the cartoon.
Re: The Guys Behind Streets Of Rage 4 And Scott Pilgrim Are Making A Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Game
@karatekid1612 Weren’t we just fantasizing about this?
Re: Square Enix Is Releasing A Legend Of Mana Remaster On Switch This June
@BlueWeaselBreath Agreed. This selective pixel-smoothing always looks awful to me. I’ll stick with my PS1 disc.

Re: Ghosts 'n Goblins Resurrection Director Finally Reveals The Deal Behind Arthur's Underwear
@karatekid1612 I have fantasized about the SoR IV guys doing remakes of both TMNT arcade games.
Re: Narita Boy Is A Neo-Retro Homage To The '80s, Coming To Switch This Spring
Great news. I was afraid this fever dream of a game would not make it to Switch.
