Re: Pong Toss Coming To Europe With Added Beer!

Bigby

@alexsays
The dude that was interviewed said it was designed for the casual crowd. It's meant for more then one person, I don't think playing real Beer Pong would be fun by yourself. Even Wii Sports sucks by yourself but it's fun with a group.
As one of the few advocates, I love the game. My whole family plays it routinely. Even though we mostly play speed pong, it's a fun and competitve game. The fact that the game is still charting says that it's still selling. After all this time It's obviosly being recommended by other people. Since it came out in June??? I would have to believe the initial sales rush would be over, so other people are enjoying it to.
The graphics and sound arn't great but it's 16 megs, after awhile your obliviuos to it anyways because your so focused on the game.
I thought the controls and physics are outstanding once you give the game a chance.

I find it amazing that Pong Toss still has all your feathers in a ruffle.
The game is everywhere, every bar that i've been too that has a Wii has Pong Toss playing. Now I just got an email from them that they are going to be featured at the San Diego Film festival.
Name one other Wiiware game that can or has been doing what Pong Toss is doing. Love em or hate em, they've been paving new ground.

@David77
Lifeless is the perfect word I was searching for. I love graphic adventures, everything from kings quest to Mist but Strong Bad has to be the worst ever. Im still trying to scratch my eyes out...

I assure you that I wont make that mistake again by buying any of the others coming out.

Re: Eternity's Child Demo Now Available!

Bigby

Good news is that it's better then Strong Bad.
Bad new is Strong bad is about the worst game i've ever played. I've never been so bored in my life and regret downloading it more then Table Tennis. What did any of you see in that game that warrants the rating???

I give strong bad a 2
I give Eternity's Child a 2.1

I don't see how posting a second demo level will fix the controls. I don't like talking negative about other peoples creations but OMG...

Re: Luc Bernard Quits Videogame Development

In Luc's present state he is going to fail at graphic novels the way he failed at video games. Here’s the problem, both are inherently artistic and no 2 people have the same artistic view. Since Luc Bernard only focuses on the negative aspects of the world, he will fail at anything artistic until he changes his mind set. Just from his comments on Wiiware world you can see his bias to his own opinions. If he doesn't like it then it possibly can't be good. Fortunately he is getting a taste of his own medicine and hopefully he will be smart enough to see his past errors and change the path he is currently on.
He needs to realize that everyone has their OWN opinion and it's neither good nor bad but simply an opinion and until he becomes secure enough in his own work then he will continue to keep failing and running away.
Tuff Love...

Talk about Karma...
I guess his garbage got a worse review then Pong Toss. Was he just hating for no reason.

god it's so sad, that Wiiware games from some devs are so terrible
it's really bringing the service down for all of us, seriously I never supported this game and I'm quite sad that Nintendo even allows garbage like that up on Wiiware

Re: Top 20 WiiWare Games in America (6th August)

I just found this review from a dude named DrMoze from Cheapassgamer.com, I thought it was very well done.

After reading several negative reviews for Pong Toss (aka Beer Pong), I realized that many reviewers missed the point, and that the review scores were misleading. I'd like to provide a more insightful review.

Many people have reviewed PT as a regular game, and dinged it for stuff like lack of depth, only 2 modes, no web-based hi scores, poor graphics, etc. To start, PT is NOT meant to be a pure "video game."

What PT is, plain and simple, is a simulation of beer pong. And it is a very good one. It is not a game for underaged kids to play and expect exciting/deep gameplay, nor is it a game to fire up and play to get high scores. No.

PT is simply meant to be played with friends, beer (pitchers or bottles/cans) and cups. Instead of heading to a (usually skeevy) bar to play beer pong, you can do so in the comfort of your own home. No dirty pingpong balls in cups or rolling on the floor, no need to buy or use a table (with 20 cups to fill), no spilled beer everywhere. Just pour a splash in your own cup, drink it when your opponent makes a shot, and repeat. (This addresses the comment I've seen a few times: "Why not just play real beer pong?" Convenience!)

As a beer pong sim, this game is a lot of fun. I've played with friends, and it's like a beer pong game in your living room without the mess and hassle. The control is critical, and it works well. Your shot depends on both the range of motion (how far back you start and how much follow-through), and on the speed. After a while, you get used to giving it the right "touch" to make shots more consistently, just like in real life. It feels pretty darn close to the real thing, which is what this simple game is all about. You can use it to PLAY BEER PONG AT HOME!

Graphics are so-so and repetitive taunts are a bit annoying after a while. But the graphics are plenty good for the game, and the pong ball/cup sounds are quite good. Some reviews/comments I've seen complained about lack of explicit beer references (including the changed title). HUH? The game plays just like beer pong, looks like beer pong, and it's not like the players are telling you to drink water! There's nothing to indicate that it's not beer!

So, if you're underage, don't bother with this. There are better skill games out there with more variety. If you're a 20-something or older and want to play beer pong at home with friends, I highly recommend this game.

Simple as that.

I agree with BAnthony
Perhaps Corbies review was so biased against a genre that it might actually be a fun game if given the chance.
Perhaps the Wii was actually designed for a casual market and hardcore gamers are the minority and register as a small blip on the radar.
I love Pong Toss and everyone at my party Saturday played it more then Guitar Hero (That I found amazing).

Re: Review: Frat Party Games - Pong Toss (WiiWare)

Wow Corbie,
Im really surprised... The review sounded favorable until the score. I know you didn't do the Table Tennis review but that got a 5.
Im enjoying Pong Toss and my niece is liking it too. Despite the mediocre graphics, it's leaps and bounds better then table tennis.
You are right about Speed pong though, it is the best of the two.

Edit - Maybe the newness hasn't worn off yet but I think this is one of the better party style games. I know my family will be playing this more then Wiisports, it's definetly worth the 8 bones.

Re: JV Games Interview - Pong Toss

OMG my bro just sent me this... Heres another reason to play pong toss, I cant stop laughing.

You Might Want To Think Twice About Playing Beer Pong
Author: alisse 21 JUL
Unprotected beer pong play is almost as bad as unprotected sex according to the Center for Disease Control.
There has been a huge increase in Herpes transmission and reports of the virus have gone up 230% from last year in people 17 to 21. This is traced to the sharing of cups during beer pong. The type of Herpes increasing is the Simplex-Virus 1 that causes cold sores. EW!
Universities are starting to take notice. Arizona State University is even providing new, free red cups to all students in the dorms because they realize that playing beer pong is inevitable and there is no way to prevent it.
And you can always play a different game. According to CDC spokesman, Dr. Cole Desorio, “Flip cup is great because each individual has their own cup. If it’s absolutely necessary to play beer pong, use the waterfall method. Many young adults, when asked if they practice safe pong, responded that they rinse the ball after it bounces off the table.”
Surprised the CDC knows what beer pong, waterfalls and flip cup even are. Props, I guess?

I wonder if JV Games knows about this?

Re: JV Games Interview - Pong Toss

@ mr cheez - You seem to care enough to post and are you seriously sweating 8 bucks.
It's like a coffee at SB, a couple of game plays at an arcade, a sandwich and a drink. The only Wiiware game i've really regretted is Table Tennis and thats because it's like 30 megs, if anyones even seen the game... how the hell is that possible?. My 7 year old niece loves it though, so I have to keep it.
I really hope Pong Toss is good so I don't look like a dink, I do love the underdog though

Re: Beer Pong Goes Alcohol Free

I totally agree with BDPatVCR.
It's not the job of companies or goverment to censor anything. It's our parents jobs to do as they see fit for their kids.
Some will do good and some will do bad as it's been since the dawn of mankind.

Re: Beer Pong Goes Alcohol Free

I don't know if you all are giving this game a fare shake...
There's a bar in Santa Monica that my bro dragged me too, I think it's called South Bar or beach or South Beach Bar or what ever. Back in March they were showing it there and letting everyone play. It was a blast, there had to be a couple hundred people just taking their turns with it and it wasn't even close to being finished.
I've actually been waiting for Beer Pong to come out. I throw alot of parties and it's just one of those stupid fun games that anyone can pickup and play.
I just hope they didn't screw up the fun factor....

And really, whats the big deal? The game got a "T" rating from ESRB. So why the name change...
I dont know if any of you saw the article on game politics (Below) but im so sick and tired of these censorship nazis...
Sorry for the rant

GamePolitics take on this story.....
