Re: Reggie Fils-Aime: Fanbase Demands Are 'Insatiable'

AndrewOnett

I find it hillarious that many people have changed their tune when I've been saying the same thing since the conference. The only difference here is that Reggie is using his charm.

The only thing missing here is the explanation that new and innovative games aren't developed over night. I've noticed that there are still some people who are complaining that a game on the scale of Mario Galaxy or Smash Bros aren't being launched with the Wii U. I don't think they realize how much time and effort it takes to develop games that big. Furthermore, I think they should be pleased that they weren't jeopardized and rushed out just to silence the sniveling brats.

Re: Super Smash Bros. 3DS and Wii U Powers Up with Namco

AndrewOnett

This is just another sign that Nintendo is stretching themselves thin. They always need some kind of 3rd party help with developing anything these days. As awful as it sounds, we can probably expect to see Tales of (insert name here), and Klonoa characters. The only thing keeping my spirits high is the fact that Project Sora is involved.

Re: Bigger Nintendo 3DS Console Revealed

AndrewOnett

No thanks. You'd think they would take advantage of the size and include a second slider pad to give the potential customer more of a reason to buy it (mostly those who already have a 3DS.) Then again, this is sort of a double edged sword seeing as how many people already bought a 3DS and the idea of the 3DS XL with a second slider pad may feel like the Wii U tablet controller. I honestly don't know what to think of this until I fire up a game on this behemoth myself. Until then, I'd be pretty hard pressed to buy it.

Re: Miyamoto: Nintendo Focused on Fun, Not Competition

AndrewOnett

Finding a good balance between fun and competitive would be nice. I don't want every single one of my games feeling like a luck based minigame from Mario Party. However, I will agree with how overly reliant developers are with shooters these days but then again, it sells. It is the sad truth.

Re: Smash Bros. Wii U Wait Could Be Even Longer Than We Thought

AndrewOnett

Not a surprise to me at all but then again, not everybody takes into consideration the amount of time and effort needed to make a great game. 3 years sounds like a long time but in reality everybody will forget this is in development and it will sneak up on us. Difficult to believe I will be 27 when it comes out. I will probably have kids by then too. Yikes.

Re: Reggie: Friend Codes Return on Wii U, But They're Better

AndrewOnett

I saw this coming. Totally called it long before E3 and knew something was fishy when the "no friend codes" thing was announced. I'm far from disappointend though. I play online to challenge other players not socialize with them, so the friend code drama doesn't affect me. As for Miiverse, I believe it will be extremely useful. Given the ridiculously large community of players submitting tips, I can guarantee you that it will be much easier to find the specific answer you are looking for instead of waking up your computer, opening a web browser, going to gamefaqs and finding the right guide and reading through it to find the exact place you are stuck at.

Re: E3 2012: Iwata and Friends Enjoy a Job Well Done

AndrewOnett

And the only reason everybody is whining is due to Zelda missing from their presentation. I love how everybody questions their relationship with Nintendo over a couple of games we already know are going to exist at some point in the future but weren't shown at the press conference. Sounds to me like a bunch of spoiled brats.

Re: Reaction: Nintendo Finally Arrives Online with Wii U

AndrewOnett

@Dodger

You're speaking as if all of the foul text will be automaticly visible without having to befriend them first. All of Nintendo's past consoles with online functionality require a friend code before certain functions become available. I can almost guarantee that you will need to obtain a friend code before you start seeing text and have the ability to video chat. In addition, I'm positive there is a option to turn off the text as well.

Re: Talking Point: Should Zelda Go Episodic?

AndrewOnett

Using Final Fantasy as a example is terrible. That series is doing far more poorly than Zelda and suffers from a identity crisis.

Watch everybodys tune change when Zelda's sales skyrocket on the Wii U. It doesn't matter what they do with it. It will be a new Zelda game on a new console with HD graphics and a new controller.

Re: Talking Point: Should Zelda Go Episodic?

AndrewOnett

Either route would be fine with me as long as they do what "Starfox Adventures" did on the Gamecube. Give me full voice acting and HD graphics and I'll be happy no matter what. Just keep Link's dialogue sparse and the game will feel a bit more modern and less empty. I'm open for new ideas and willing to try before rejecting them. It depends entirely on how it is executed.

Re: Redesigned Wii U Tablet Controller Is Revealed

AndrewOnett

After looking at the images some more, it makes sense that the analogue sticks/circle pads are up so high. How else are you going to click those L and R triggers without having to maneuver your hands in an awkward manner? I imagine if everything were to be moved down or centered, this thing would be too top heavy. It would be silly to do that just to fill the empty space.

Clickable circle pads? Mmm... core-gamers.

Re: Redesigned Wii U Tablet Controller Is Revealed

AndrewOnett

I like the old layout better. Everything is mapped out similarly to the 3DS and the circle pads are travel friendly. I can't tell you how many times I've had my gamecube analogue sticks wear and tear because they protrude out of the controller and are often pressed against something when they are packed away on the go. The circle pads are a great way to prevent the same types of wear and tear like the gamecube controllers and insure that the owner won't have to spend a fortune replacing it. I'm almost certain that the circle pads are going to be on the newer model. I'm calling it now.

In addtion, the missing "Wii U" logo on the older image leaves room for the possible name change at E3. I'm not holding my breath though. Both controllers look fantastic. I'm so excited I can almost pee my pants.

Re: Peter Molyneux Wants More From 'Lacklustre Wii U'

AndrewOnett

@grimbldoo

Don't forget about Angry Birds on the iPhone. We all know it is far more deep and competitive than any game Nintendo and its subsidiaries have ever released. Lets not forget its killer soundtrack either.

Let's face it guys, Farmville and Angry Birds are the future of gaming. Nintendo and the Wii U are finished.

Re: Nintendo Patent Reveals Wii U and Remote Interactivity

AndrewOnett

I'm sure using the Wii's remote to drag and drop items onto the tablet won't require expert percision or require the tablet to be standing perfectly upright either. I can imagine this changing the flow of games that are normally riddled with having to pause and toggle through item menus. For example, games like PSO2 that were developed for PC can easily work cause everything would be hotkeyed through the tablet/or/touch screen and the same goes for any other game.

I don't care what anybody says, this is HUGE.

Re: Kingdom Hearts 3D Gets Mark of Mastery Special Edition

AndrewOnett

@zachts98 @SkywardLink98

I created this one using Photoshop and a pre-existing 3DS skin template I found somewhere on the interwebs to help me get the measurements just right. If you search custom 3DS skins on deviant art you can find pre-made skins you can use and get printed on Gelaskins.com. If you want this Skyward Sword skin in particular, I can look for the file and share it here when I get home.

Re: Two Pokémon Apps Bound for eShop in the West

AndrewOnett

This is just more proof that GameFreak is sitting on top of 400+ fully modeled 3D Pokes with animations and doing nothing with them but releasing silly apps instead teasing us with a killer Wii U title. I'll probably end up buying Pro anyway.

@Koto

Ditto (no pun intended.) Same thing happened to me with the Dodrio Gameboy on Pokemon Silver/Pokemon Stadium 2. I also spent hours collecting ash in the soot sack on Route 113 on my copy of Sapphire while trying to catch Skarmory. Collecting the flutes was fun too. Generation III will always be one of my personal favorites along with that Route for various reasons.

Re: Sakurai Won't Make a Kid Icarus: Uprising Sequel

AndrewOnett

Heartbreaking not only because their won't be a sequel developed by project sora, but another developer will have to pick it up if we want to see Pit fly again before the next decade or so. It's a shame because Kid Icarus: Uprising is a refreshing change in comparison to how stale Smash Bros. is becoming.
@Adam
It's all about money these days unfortunately.
@CowLaunch
Let's hope that happens here.

Re: SEGA Won't Be Attending Gamescom

AndrewOnett

I'm sure they have stuff to show but they likely came to this decision because a majority of what they have is probably at a unflattering stage of its development.

If James and BurningSpear aren't going, I'm not going.

Re: Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed "A Different Game" to Mario Kart 7

AndrewOnett

I appologize, allow me to reiterate. Maybe it wasn't so much the controls fault as it was the wacky course design throwing hairpin turns at you that seemed to blend in with the over all color scheme of the stage which made it difficult for me to tell where to turn.

@Neram

From what I can see so far, yes. I say that because Diddy Kong Racing gave the player the option to choose between the Plane, Car or Hovercraft on stages that were built to support all 3. In this case, you have all 3-in-1. The only thing that suggests that this game rips off of MK7 is the fact that the vehicle transforms when it hits air or water.

Re: Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed "A Different Game" to Mario Kart 7

AndrewOnett

Sounds pretty situational to me, a lot like using Tails or Wave in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity. You could already ride across large bodies of water and fly through the air if you were using their respective gear. The only difference this time around is that you will be able to do all of this in a vehicle with your favorite Sega character.

@Kinioka

Don't start doing handstands over this one minute trailer with no actual gameplay just yet. Sega All Stars Racing on the Wii was buggy, imbalanced, had awful controls, frustrating course design and a unstable online mode. Let's just hope that Sega isn't Sega.

Re: Rumour: Retro Studios Preparing Star Fox Wii U Reveal

AndrewOnett

If it IS indeed a Star Fox Wii U game...
1. Bring back the context sensitivity from 64 (Paths)
2. Make good use of the all-range-mode
3. Give us a Online Mode
4. If ground missions are included, learn a thing or two from Kid Icarus: Uprising and help us forget the monstrosity that was Assault. Think of the way Magnus would assist Pit during ground missions. Now imagine exploring a hideout as Fox with Falco assisting you with his blaster in a similar manner.

One can dream, right?

@Faron
Open space exploration would be pretty awesome.
