You can tell Nintendo has absolutely zero hope for this game because it was a random twitter drop and there were no exclamation mark at the end of the announcement sentence. Nintendo seemed like they didn’t want to announce this but it was already finished so they just Twitter dropped it

I like the pricing but will definitely wait for reviews. This had been rumored for a while.

I for one, am thrilled. Loved the first game. It gets far more play at gatherings than Mario Party does. It's a lot simpler to understand and far more fun to watch. Especially the plate spinning mini game (which can get violent in our group).

I'm actually curious about where Nintendo is going with this. Seems like you'll be able to use your phone to play, kind of like Jackbox.

Those of you malding in the comments seriously need to touch some grass, lol. Not every game Nintendo announces is gonna be TOTK/Metroid Dread level hype. If anything, the way you guys are acting speaks to how spoiled rotten we are when it comes to great games on the Switch. Plus, you guys seem to forget that Nintendo is a FAMILY-oriented company - you know, the exact type of audience that would love this type of game.

Why wasn't this in a Nintendo direct? A game without franchise power isn't going to pull in a crowd out of nowhere.

What failed once deserves another spin to fail again

Can something like this even be considered a video game? It's literally just sitting next to people and doing weird things with the controller. There's no digital element aside from videos to showcase what you're meant to do in the og game.

I never played the first one (my launch titles were BOTW and Super Bomberman R), and this one will be a hard pass as well.

$30 is a bad sign. Along with the rumors, this game was not well-liked and probably did not receive many changes post-play testing. It's a sign more or less confirming that it was a budget title and very light on content. Nintendo's probably pushing it out for the minimum price they are willing to charge for it.

Better off buying Hollow Knight twice for $15 than this game tbh.

The fact that they just shadow dropped this shows that they have just as much faith in this game as we do. I would have rather arms two over this.

F-Zero, Golden Sun, Wave Race, Punch Out, Kid Icarus, and many other great franchises continue to be ignored, yet 1-2 Switch gets a sequel. What the heck?

While since the first game was almost universally hated, there is plenty of reason to question this decision.

I am excited for this. For one it means more games that use all the features (or more of) the features of the joycons and for two it is silly fun. All the negative nelsons will crap on it but I am looking forward to seeing gameplay.

I remember reading that a goal with this series was to create games that don't require the player to look at the screen.
So, a video game, without all that "video."

I like playing dumb party games with my kids. Moreso if it's for $30.

everyone asking why - because this probably cost a few 100,000 to cobble together. They didn't dedicate a team of 400 and spend 5 years making this.

Honestly I'd be excited if the first game was free with this, but there's no way I'm shelling out a hundred bucks for the pair of them, or even 80 if this is slightly less.

Be granted if Nintendo still keep making quirky games as there is always the audiences who like to play quirky games.
Back in PS1 era, I was really hyped with Bishi Bashi games by Konami on PS1 and Arcade for quirky mini games compilation.
It was a blast and hilarious.
The game might be not for everyone because it's not xenoblade or zelda games level but the game might be for other peoples including me who have interest with quirky things.

Okay-wasn’t expecting this, but the price is right, and sounds like it will be a good family game. I’m interested.

@LikelySatan Considering more and more unexpected demographics play video games (like the visually impaired or blind) or groups that game for mobility and less for gaming (or even people that age is starting to take its toll), I can see where this might be coming from. Wii proved that gaming can reach new audiences.

I definitely remember this title leaking ages ago with the word being that it was so bad that Nintendo wasn't even sure they could actually release it.

@8itmap_k1d There was a report on this game last year that basically got everything correct about it, like the mascot being a guy in a horse mask and the game featuring cell phone connectivity inspired by Jackbox, and...playtesting went so poorly Nintendo was concerned releasing it could damage their brand image. Seems like they decided to push it out at a low price point with little fanfare because it was received so negatively

Game selection on launch was pretty slim, it was basically this game and BotW. And this game sucked. The only reason it sold at all was because there was pretty much nothing else.
Bringing it back when there is a wide selection of games for the system is doubly baffling. I'd rather see Snipperclips 2.

When the gameplay looks funny and silly for certain peoples, it will sell 1-2-Switch.
Not everyone have interest in AAA level games like zelda or xenoblade games.
There are some peoples enjoy more light gameplay without AAA quality.

This definitely looks like a throwback, Wii-era party game that got cranked out back in the day. I mean, I’m sure it’s fine for what it is, a $30 party game, but I wouldn’t except anything beyond a way to kill 30 minutes with some friends and family lol

Well, this is how you remain prolific without eating into Zelda sales lol. Not for me, but there is a huge audience for this sort of thing. Interesting that smart devices can be used. I wonder if this is some sort of proof of concept going forward. I don't want to be prejudgemental (unlike the opening line of this article ahem) but it does look like something Ubisift supported the Wii with.

This really seems like it was meant to be a bundled title for the Switch Pro. One day we are going to find out if it truly was in development, or if it still is.

@Il_Nintenditore Depends how you read it, there's more likely more people out there who enjoy party games compared to quite niche titles catered to gaming enthusiasts such as Metroid. Doesn't mean they'll stop making Metroid (unless people just don't buy Metroid...).

I have no interest in this title at all. Should have been DLC for the first game - years ago - and I'm also not happy with the lack of content on Mario Party, which has similar content to this.

I find it unlikely that this is the only finished game Nintendo is sitting on too.

If the game is half as bad the game still is very bad.

The Switch is winding down its life, in the same vein as it launched its life. Almost poetic, in a sense.

It amazed me to see the majority comments here that really repulsed by the announcement of Everybody 1-2-Switch.
The game might be not for you, just let other peoples including me who have interest in quirky games celebrate this good news.
It really shown the games don't have to be AAA quality to get the audiences.

I enjoyed the gameplay of 1-2-Switch despite I played the game alone, by myself so I took control of two Joy Cons like being played by 2 players at the same time and I amazed to see which side of my hands did better.
Sometimes my right hand did better, sometimes my left hand did better.
At very rare case, I accidentally made a record by getting exactly same numbers of miliseconds from Quick Draw mini game and both of them performed from my both hands.
I didn't expect I could make Draw result from Quick Draw as it was nearly impossible to get Draw result from Quick Draw because every miliseconds is counted.

I saw horse head mascot and some peoples mimicking riding horse gesture so I believe there will be Riding Horse mini game by holding the Joy Con like you are riding a horse + add some gesture from the legs to mimick pantomime horse riding. 😆

People seem to miss the point here. The title for this game is EVERYBODY 1-2-Switch. It is not a question about whether you will be buying it or not, EVERYBODY will be playing 1-2-Switch, eventually. It is the first step Nintendo is taking towards an alternative 1984.

Edit: I couldn't have been more wrong here...this is not 1984, this is the Matrix. Why else the need for smartphones? Surely not for turning us all into something alike Agent Smiths, right? I can see Playstation and Xbox waking up one morning and see what is going on in the outside world, hastily creating countermeasures, but all to no avail... Soon the whole world will be a Re-Dead-ish obedient Nintendo fanboy stuck in a world where Everybody 1-2-Switch is the norm...this my people is the true definition of Nintendoomed...

I considered 1-2-Switch was like Arcade style game that I can replay again anytime I want so even I already unlocked all the mini games, sometimes I wanted to try experimenting different gameplay style from the same mini games and since I played the game alone, I took control of both Joy Cons.
It still amazed me both of my hands in very rare case could deliver exactly same result from Quick Draw mini game, Draw result from Signal Flags which basically I moved both my hands with different directions according to the instructions and it tested my brain to handle both right and left brain side at the same time.

Ended with Zelda and 1-2-Switch

Lmao I remember hearing about this.

The test audience reaction for their core target [casual family gamers] for this game hated this game brutally to the point that Nintendo had no idea what to do with this finished game. In the end I guess a stealth release that doesn’t even get a slight mention in a Direct lol.

I’m pretty sure the smoke couldn’t get more obvious to warn people against buying this game even if you were a fan of the original 1-2

It will need a switch pro to run this game, too big for my old switch.

Also, looking at the picture above with peoples using handphone to play the game, I wonder if the mini games can be played by two ways: Joy Cons and your handphone.
Since Joy Cons have motion control, what about the handphone ?
Can the handphone mimicking the motion input of mini games or it will act as dual screen like Wii U gamepad ?
Still so many questions in my brain about the gameplay of Everybody 1-2-Switch.

I feel like this kind of thing is handled better on the switch than on the wii because of the Switch's more versatile nature.

with the wii if you didnt like the motion controls (or in more extreme cases had trouble using them due to mobility reasons) then you were kind of SOL since the majority of games they were mandatory, with the switch you can at least choose how you play most games.

Its why im hoping that the next system does end up being another switch since i feel like the switch is where they hit that perfect balance, they were still able to have more experimental things like Labo, ring-fit, mario kart live etc while still offering a lot of options in "how" you play most games.

I don't think there will be a Direct this month, but a game like this would have never been announced at a Direct. Titles like Labo, Ring Fit, Brain Training, Game Builder Garage, etc were also announced via Twitter, outside of Directs.

Is Nintendo trying to tell us something? You know: "Everybody Switch (from Switch) 1 (to Switch) 2". Maybe the Switch successor will be revealed soon.

The fist game was a lie. You buy the game and party on.

No! You can play a hand full of mini games, which you need to play multiple times until a few get unlocked. You now need to play the available ones for quite some time to unlock more mini games. Of course the interesting ones are locked at the end.

This all makes no sense and the game itself was no fun unless you are drunk. I spend a lot of money on bad games, but this even beats Impossible Mission, which is a statement.

The successor is going to be a flop. Everyone owning part 1, will avoid this game. It was a success, because it was a launch title and there only where five or so. Everybody knows this, but Nintendo thinks it is a good idea to produce a sequel. Look at the facts Nintendo. Not just the numbers.

I played the game by myself, Solo gameplay and I took control both of the Joy Cons.
Telephone mini game is my favorite, Signal Flags also my favorite too. 😊

This is the legendary game that was so bad, the testers couldn't be bothered to play it, right? (I recall articles about it sometime last year)

I don't like to be pessimistic, but the bottom of the barrel seems to be in sight for Switch if they trot this out to pad the release schedule.

Why would Nintendo make a sequel to 1-2 switch if the original one was badly received? Also how many copies did the first game sell?

It was one of five launch titles, so within the first four weeks there wasn't much choice beside Zelda, some other roleplay game, this wipeout clone with broken network stuff, Snipperclips and 1-2-switch.

So if you wanted a family game it was ether 1-2-Switch oder SnipperClips.

THAT is why they sold so many games.

My family had a lot of fun with 1-2-Switch! It probably should have been paired down and included, but it was fun to get to know the possibilities before most developers abandon them.

I can't imagine the appetite for this one is very big, but the market is WAY bigger now, so it might sell a million on nostalgia + curiosity. Hopefully in the time that has passed since it was internally reviled, they found at least one group mini-game that was worth playing and fun. (Kinda like YDKJ/Jackbox only needs one or two a group likes) I'll wait to see more.

Sometimes, I think like an exec's niece or something just likes a game, has a bday coming up, and the exec doesn't know what to get her.

Now this is the kind of game to buy physically and never take out of the packaging. Might be pretty rare in 25 years when people are nostalgic for the Switch and trying to complete a collection

So once again the core do not like a game, so Nintendo should not be releasing it. or see no reason for them to be making it at all.

Now back to reality the original game sold 3.63 million copies, and has sold many more games than a lot of the franchises Nintendo, according to the experts should be making rather than this.

The main reason the Switch is so popular is it caters for a much wider demographic than just core gamers, which is why this will do pretty well imho.

A YouTube channel with 9K subscribers, not sure what you are trying to say here, as I said the last game sold 3.8 million copies, I can't see this not selling to the mass market Switch owners.

What does not help is articles on here, starting with "No this is not a joke", when the previous game outsold a lot of the core fans favorite games.... guess we will see how well it sells, but for me it's the site and core fans, being out of touch as usual.
