Last week, Nintendo announced it would be adding a new addition to its Switch Online + Expansion Pack N64 library. Now, Pilotwings 64 has officially gone live on the service.
This friendly flight sim originally made its debut on the N64 in 1996/97 - giving players a chance to fly all sorts of aircraft. You can play this one right now as long as you're a Switch Online subscriber and have access to the Expansion Pack service.
And in case you're wondering, the same title has also been made available for the N64 Switch Online library in Japan this week.
The remaining titles in Nintendo's current batch of N64 NSO games include Mario Party, Mario Party 2, Mario Party 3, Pokémon Stadium, Pokémon Stadium 2, 1080 Snowboarding, Excitebike 64 and also GoldenEye 007. Japan will be getting Harvest Moon 64, too.

Definitely one I'll check, as these early N64 games had the worst borders in PAL territories.
It's time to Sky
I wish they'd release GoldenEye already... 😒😔
I never really got into Pilot Wings 64 back in the day. It’s not like I hate it or anything but it just never grabbed my attention like that.
@shonenjump86 same here but I'm glad those that did play it will get a chance to relive their memories once more.
As for me I'm eagerly waiting for Mario Party 2 and Goldeneye's release.
It would be an understatement to say that I'm extraordinarily stoked to finally play one of my favorite N64 games again - and for the first time in close to 25 years. It's going to be like strapping into a flying time machine. Destination: Mid-to-late 1990s. Please remain seated.
Honestly, while I do think that Pilotwings 64 is alright, I believe that Super Smash Bros. (1999) should’ve been the N64 NSO game for this month, would’ve been funny imo since balance patches and DLC stopped for Smash Ultimate in October 2021.
Well either that or Mortal Kombat 4/Trilogy (one of the two I don’t mind) since it’s Halloween Month and MK is one of the more spooky gaming franchises.
This is actually a fantastic game, based on it’s gripping and authentic physics & handling. This was a gift as a result of the fact that Paradigm were established space and aviation simulation specialists. There’s something endearing about the simplicity of the graphics, being such a graphically primitive first wave N64 game. It’s understandable that modern gamers who weren’t there at the time might not warm to it, but I do feel that these days, this game is underrated in general.
Defenatey one of my favorite N64 games. Such a charming game. This will probarbly get me to upgrade my sub this weekend. Just a shame i cant get hold of the controller without paying ebay scalper prices.
@EVIL-C I originally expected it to release last month because then the timeline they laid out for us would have still given us one game per month, but then they didn't give us any game at all in September.
Now I expect it to roll around in June around E3, unless they wanna squeeze it in elsewhere in 2023.
Wait what the heck was that minigame shown in the trailer with the person jumping like a frog? I don't remember that one at all.
One of my favorite N64 games that I'm looking forward to replay.
I'll have a little play. Really I'm waiting for Excitebike 64.
@FroZtedFlake Jumble Hopper. It was one of the very last games you unlocked.
I’ve been waiting for this to re-release since the Wii VC became a thing. I play the original cart from time to time with my kids who call it, “Parachute Game.”
Would love to see a new game in the series eventually. The 3DS game was “fine” but it did’t have the same appeal and charm as the SNES or N64 games.
@DrewBA77 Ahh that makes sense, I think I may have dropped it before that, not because I didn't like it, I just never got back to it.
@FroZtedFlake I stuck with the game for a long time due to it being one of my first 3D games. I think I had to use GameShark to unlock anything that wasn't the cannon minigame XD
