Back in September, Nintendo surprised the internet when it announced Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World, Avengers: Endgame) would be the voice of Super Mario in the upcoming animated film by Illumination.
It's become a bit of a meme at this point online, and now to take it one step further, an internet browser game hack made by "Woe Industries" has now dubbed the first level of the original Super Mario Bros. game with Chris Pratt's voice.
It's officially titled 'Chris Pratt is Super Mario' and every time Mario does something in the game, you'll hear Chris Pratt say something. When he jumps, stomps on a Goomba, gets a power-up or does any other action you'll hear the Hollywood star's voice.
Some of the Chris Pratt lines you'll hear include "you just went and made a new dinosaur" and "I've spent a good amount of time naked". There's also an amusing Jurassic World quote when you reach the flagpole.
The feedback seems positive enough so far, here is one individual's thoughts:
"Absolutely awful (compliment). Thank you for your hard work."

@kingbk I didn't try it but I'd assume it wasn't a huge time sink adding some audio files...hell you probably spent 1/100th of the time it took to make complaining about what other people so with their lives.

Goes to prove that the "judges" of the upcoming movie's casting choices unironically expect Mario to sound like whatever previous Chris Pratt character they know.

@SuperZeldaFun Kids will watch the film, but Pratt doesn’t write the script for it. His personal beliefs and questionable actions won’t translate onto the screen in any meaningful way, and I think it’s highly unlikely any impressionable kids are going to start Googling him. If they enjoy the film, they’ll watch it again, or play the games, I doubt they care that much about the voice actors.

@SuperZeldaFun and there’s plenty worse than him that are still gainfully employed. It’s about who you know, and marketability / bankability. He still has it, at least for now.
Personally, I try my best to disassociate the players from the products. Some really sh*tty people have made some brilliant films/records. Whilst I don’t want to give money to someone who uses their wealth/power to abuse others, I also believe that if someone’s personal beliefs don’t come out in their work, I think the work should stand alone, especially if it can actually somehow have a positive effect.
As an example, by all accounts it appears that Joss Whedon is actually a horrible human being. But Buffy is an icon of female empowerment, and it wouldn’t exist and work as well as it did without him. Cancel the man, don’t cancel the product.
(That being said, I doubt the quality of the Mario film rests solely on Pratt’s creative vision)

However, they may consider getting Ben Platt (from Dear Evan Hansen) to play Link in the Zelda movie.
Maybe my expectations were too high, surely there were some better quotes that could have been used. Great concept though that could have been really funny!
