Disney Remastering Sega Genesis Platformer Gargoyles, Switch Release Confirmed

They should release the Saturday Afternoon Collectonnon the Nintendo Switch first! It would be great to play Rescue Rangers on the Switch!!

Loved the show as a kid, one of the best underrated Disney series for sure.

This is one of the games I was hoping would get a remaster. Played this a lot at my buddy's house in highschool. Now give me see QUACKSHOT as well and I'll be quite happy.

Wasn’t the best game but anything that gets this series recognition I will support. Elisa Maza is still my Disney Princess.

I remember the game being just okay, but I’ll buy anything to support this franchise. The only remaster Disney has put out for this type of game is Ducktales, which wasn’t bad. I’d love to see them assemble the original cast to record new dialogue.

i loved the series back when it was airing on Disney.
this will be the first time that i've played (and heard) of this game. super excited for more details. if this means that will see Gargoyles back in general. then i'm all for buying this game.

Though I like the show, I was never a fan of the game. I always thought it was just a worst version of Demon's Crest (Gargoyle's Quest 3).

I didn't have a Genesis growing up, and I never heard of this game until now. I'm excited for this, but I'm also just excited to see Disney give a crap about Gargoyles again. Now if only they would give a crap about Buzz Lightyear of Star Command and actually put that show on Disney+.

Great show, very disappointed it didn't continue back then. I wouldn't mind a reboot or continuation of the series today.

A bit of a surprise, considering back in the day the Genesis version was considered not a big enough seller to warrant finishing the SNES version they had planned.
When Disney started self-publishing console games at the end of the 16-bit console era, Toy Story was the one SNES game they published and then dropped the rest of its lineup. The games that did get released were after Nintendo picked them up.

Magic. I watched the whole series on Disney+ during night feeds of the urchin. Ahead of its time, and quite full-on for Disney.

They need to call this Gargoyles Reawakened.

A while ago I googled for lists of the best Sega Genesis games. I looked for long lists each at least 50 games long, that were ranked. I assigned points based on rank and added them all up. I was left with 16 lists, 396 unique games and 1,465 total entries.

Gargoyles ended up a Top 250 Sega Genesis game.

Hopefully it gets a Switch port as I've never played the original.
Late 80s early 90s era Disney was my favourite era for their cartoons. Shame they won't do any hand drawn films anymore.

Wow the game only had five levels and is super short, hopefully they don't overcharge for this. It's a remastered so I hope they add some sort of replay value to this game.

This is great and all, but I wouldn’t object if they started doing ports/remasters of their early 3d offerings too. I would love to play games like Toy Story racer and A bugs life on modern hardware

Never did play this game, so I'll give it a shot.

I remember the cartoon series, but didn't watch much of it. But now that I'm older, I would love to see it, since it features the voices of Keith David (the Arbiter from Halo) and several Star Trek actors, such as Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis. Here's hoping that this remastered version will include their voices!

This is a pretty fun game, though I wouldn’t call it amazing. I’ll still pick this up to run through it again, but for the love of everything good in this world, what kind of sorcery is needed to get the Disney Afternoon Collection on Switch?

@Oh_Well Those may come to NSO at some point. I doubt Capcom care about the collection anymore as it didn't sell that well anyways which would had been a different story had they sell it to the actual audience that wanted it instead of the PC and media crowd.

@Serpenterror You’re probably right, but I keep holding out hope that one of the boutique publishers will see the demand and try to negotiate a port, which they could then sell under the standard pre-order system to minimize risk. I realize there’s still money and time that would have to go into the port, but then I look at this Carbon engine, which is just the emulator that’s running the Jurassic Park Collection, and I think it couldn’t be that cost intensive to give us another rom dump of these games.

Never got to play this when it first came out. Looking at the video, looks like it could be a fun romp even if it's not top tier quality. I loved the series. It did so many new things for an animated series in the US; not unlike Batman TAS.

Maybe get Dotemu to consider a modern sequel to some of these like they did with SoR 4. As much as I wanted to love the new TMNT game, it was fun, but for some reason it didn't live up to the bar that SoR4 set.

This game is solid, if not brutal in the later stages. Pretty excited for this. Now just give me my darn QUACKSHOT remaster!!!!

All these old games being re-released or remastered and we still haven't got Hogs Of War.

You know what I dream of? A hand-drawn remake of "Mickey Mania", similar to "DuckTales Remastered".

@MeloMan Nah, a reboot isn't needed when the origibal show is so good, while a continuation wouldn't work after that lousy 3rd season, "The Goliath Chronicles," was exiled from continuity by the creator.

However, there are a bunch of comics that serve as a proper canon continuation, one set from the '00s, and a new ongoing set that started up just last year.

@Serpenterror Each of those five levels is pretty long, though, divided up into three distinct areas with the third area serving as an arena for the boss fight. I suppose it's still pretty short overall, although it does have some cheat codes included. However, there should be some kind of added content or replay value in a remaster like this.
