Ron Gilbert, creator of the Monkey Island franchise and co-writer of the upcoming Return to Monkey Island, has shared a fresh look at the game via a humourous video posted on Twitter.

It focuses on series' antagonist LeChuck as he delivers a verbal beating to his pirate comrades, showcasing the game's signature sense of humour while demonstrating its divisive new art style.

Suffice it to say, the new art style hasn't go down well with some "fans" of the franchise (we love it, though!), who proceeded to harrass Gilbert, forcing the creator to temporarily remove his online blog and decline from providing major updates to the game ahead of its launch later this year.

The good news, however, is Gilbert clearly hasn't completely sworn off showcasing new snippets of gameplay here and there. In a previous update, co-writer Dave Grossman provided a separate look at an in-game interaction, demonstrating how the series has matured since it's last mainline outing. Observe:

It goes without saying that we're incredibly excited to get our hands on this one!

What do you think of the new footage from Return to Monkey Island? Are you looking forward to playing it? Let us know!
