A little over a month ago, we were impressed by the announcement that Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak had sold three million units worldwide, and August has only seen the popularity of the DLC continuing to increase.
In a tweet shared from the official Monster Hunter Twitter account, the developers announced that sales of its Monster Hunter Rise expansion have now surpassed the four million mark — an impressive feat considering the fact that Sunbreak has only been on the market since June.
Alongside a message of gratitude to the fans of the game and an appropriate GIF of cheering hunters, the announcement also came with news of a new Commemorative Item Pack that you will be able to redeem tomorrow (Wednesday 24th August). This free item pack will contain Max Potions, Mega Barrel Bombs, Great Whetfish, Heavy Armor Spheres and Golden Eggs, all of which are sure to aid you in the heat of the hunt.
In other Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak news, the game has recently received its first title update, adding new missions, monsters and rewards. Sunbreak currently has a demo available on the Switch eShop, so if you are still unsure of whether or not to get involved, why not read our review and then give it a download?

The fact that a DLC that takes up almost all of your Switch's internal storage space still managed to sell better than some full games is astounding. Fantastic news for MH!
300 hours of gameplay already and they will keep adding new quests every week at least until the end of 2023. Definitely worth buying!
Wow! I wonder what the split between Switch and Steam is on that
It is pretty great, and TU1 has really opened up potential for 'unique' builds via the qurios crafting.
Nice that everyone can stand out from the crowd now, vs all players rocking the same 'meta' sets!
well worth it. the best monster hunter since monster hunter 3 ultimate
Congrats and well deserved!
The MH franchise keeps getting better and better. Not too many IPs you can say that about. Really impressive stuff!!
I am absolutely loving Rise/Sunbreak!
cant wait for the next dlc wave with new/old monsters being added in hopefully deviljho makes a return.
So well deserved! Sunbreak is the best MH expansion I've played through yet, right up there on par with Iceborne. There are those that have problems with the Qurious crafting RNG, but I really enjoy it. The grind is something I've never had a problem with in MH, and the crafting gives me a reason to keep going. I love the fact that the "meta" or "power" builds are still there, but can be tweeked and twisted a bit to make individual sets and builds to suit each hunter specifically. The complaints on difficulty have also been addressed with Sunbreak, as the Afflicted monsters can be real beasts. The Investigation system is a ton of fun, and I never have to wait long for a hunt. Even if I have to start a hunt on my own and open it up, people usually join quickly if I need multiplayer help. With major expansions and weekly event quests planned through 2023, this game is only going to just keep getting better and better!
@MrPKOmega but they have confirmed there’s more updates in 2023 on their roadmap. So even more than that!
Incredibly well deserved. Base Rise was already excellent and Sunbreak improved so much on it while adding a massive amount of content.
I'm at more than 500 hours and I can easily see myself playing hundreds more, and we even have more stuff to look forward in the future.
I'm not a fan of the RNG system they added for armor augments but it's fine as an optional thing, and I hope they keep refining it in the future.
@Sarkos That's one thing I LIKE about the armor RNG system, though. The builds are already so powerful its not NECESSARY for any hunter to do...but its nice to have to get some additional cozy skills on your built you usually wouldn't slot for, like Hungerless, etc. Make your builds personal.
@Highlar I guess, but I'd just like to have some control over it. I don't find it that personal when it's 100% luck-dependant.
I'd like it if, in addition to the current system, we could augment armor with fixed results, even if they weren't as good as what you could potentially get with RNG. Like a fixed defense boost, or a single lv1 slot, stuff like that. Just so you could plan stuff in advance when making a mixed set instead of just praying that you'll eventually roll a good augment.
@Sarkos To me, that's the thing, though. None of the augments are NECESSARY for current "meta" sets. You don't have to augment a single piece of armor, and you'll still have a pretty amazing armor/skill build at the end of the day. The augmenting adds extra, non-meta skills that you don't need...but that can make your hunts more fun. For instance, the spiritbird call skill I'd not put on anything before, due to not having the slots open. But now I'm really liking it as an added augmented skill.
@Highlar That's valid! The system just feels a little too aimless for me, but it's alright, it's not a big deal. As you said, you can still have great sets without even bothering with armor augmentation, and the game has a lot to offer beyond that.
